As sick as the movies make greek life/ frat parties look, in reality it's..... not that cool. Come and see what frat parties are REALLY like and how they work at Dartmouth (which for some reason seems to be fabled as this pinnacle of greek life debauchery thanks to our earlier days lol)
Definitely don't get me wrong, I love a good frat dance party, but at the end of the day, it's just a venue to hang out with people that you enjoy, which you can ultimately do anywhere. As glamorous as the movies make it seem, it really isn't everything in college and there are a number of ways to socialize in and outside of greek spaces. Not to mention that there are many issues with how the greek system is operated, but that's a much much longer term issue lol. What I show you here is just one of MAANYYY many options of ways to socialize and have fun in college. Hope it's helpful! :)

I'm a rising senior considering applying to Dart, and while there's a lot of videos explaining what Greek life at dart is like, actually having one vlogging it is INCREDIBLY relieving. I love a lot about Dartmouth academics, but really don't do well in heavy party scenes, and this video was super helpful in clarifying what average Greek life is like. Thanks!!!!!

I'm a big fan of a life openly lived. I always remind myself that if I feel the need to hide anything I'm doing, that's a sign I probably shouldn't be doing it. So kudos to you for forthrightness and taking on the eternally difficult question of how to live in the world as a Christian. Also, no hard alcohol in frats? That's new :)

My dad is a Dartmouth alumni who frequently reminds my family that "God lives in Dartmouth". He has made lifelong friends who we still visit in America (I live in South Africa) and always tells stories of his frat life at I think Phi Delta. I can only imagine that this was his experience.

My sister went to and graduated from Dartmouth years ago,one of the frats on Campus used to freeze part of their front lawn,they made a little ice track and used to jump over a keg on ice skates

Ohhhh Beta…haha how I remember that place well (born and raised not too far from Dart and attended many parties there …in the 90’s…haha dont judge). Although my fave memory was in 2007-ish? I went for a drive during Winter Carnival down frat row to see the ice sculptures. It was -15 degrees and saw a student ….on the porch of the frat house…in boxers….riding a stuffed goat…playing a ukulele while wearing a sombrero HAHA! (I know your video is older but it popped up on my home page so I checked it out)

I graduated in 1990 and Freshmen could pledge/rush and hard alcohol was allowed ... I'm glad all that changed. If it had been in place in my day, one of my friends may have avoided getting Parkhursted in their first year ... yeah ... that ...In that you posted this four years ago, I hope you are doing well in your post-graduate career. My son is now interested, but ... that's a whole other thing (it's why I am looking at such videos, now). Thank you for this...

I totally get how people would stereotype greek life but it sucks bc I'm also in a sorority and it's not always true with the associations you get! I love your take on this video! It's refreshing to see how greek life is over at dartmouth! I didn't know you can rush as a sophomore bc at ASU you can rush starting as a freshman! I'm also a christian and I'm not a big fan of the drinking/hooking up culture in college but I still have fun with my friends without all of that! If you ever come to arizona come visit me!!:)💖💖

I’m strongly considering Dartmouth but it’s huge frat/sorority culture is really concerning. I’m Muslim so I can’t really drink alcohol or necessarily party as hard so would you say that it’s harder to make friends with people who aren’t involved in Greek life? Also since it’s so rural, how do you do internships

as much as drinking/ party culture is highlighted as a part of dartmouth, there are MANY other alternatives in social life and I definitely have friends who went to parties without drinking. it can feel like greek life overwhelms the social scene, but I also definitely did have friends who didn't rush or who depledged their houses. people intern in "off" terms when they're not taking classes!
