So agree with you Kim. I sing on a worship team with two other worshippers. Sometimes it seems so hard to get the congregation to open their mouth to sing. God loves to hear the praises of his people he inhabits our praises not just us on the platform. Yes Lord show us how to shift forgive me if I was a part of it. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord no mater what it sounds like. Love you Kim thank you for this.

Amen and amen! I've said so much of the same things over the years. As a worship team, we have an "audience" of One. But part of our responsibility is to set the environment that invites the Holy Spirit AND invites the congregation to "build the Throne" for our God to sit and be worshipped. I often find opportunities in songs to go a Capella, and just let the entire congregation's voices resonate. Amazing things happen....if we let them.

This is SO GOOD! I’ve been praying for this ever since my time leading at my little church. Honestly, where can we find “worship leaders” in scripture? We find WORSHIPPERS, and those worshippers were skillful, but they had a job to do in the Temple. I believe that installing “worship leaders” is beautiful and had good intentions, but our main job should always have been to simply worship, and be an EXAMPLE that would encourage the people in the congregation and to worship as well. It was never supposed to be us entertaining them, it was us showing them that worship is powerful, important and how it’s done. I also feel passionate that the people who are called to lead-the skillful-are supposed to be worshipping in the church even when no one is there to watch-to impart a spirit of worship and to obey the commands and duties of the worshippers in 1 Cor 25. PS, Kim, you did nothing but make me feel like I HAD TO be singing too, you demonstrated and encouraged and you exemplified what I see as true worship-you always pop into my mind when I read 1 Cor 25. Because of the way you worshipped, I knew I did not have a choice but to do so as well. So I understand why you may feel complicit as you said, I don’t mean to minimize your feelings, but to me you were the exact opposite. God used you to move me, and to grow me, and even to open my eyes when I realized something was not right with how things were being done at my old place. Thank you ❤ The power of the Holy Ghost got a hold of me while you were singing pregnant with Maisie, and He has never left me!!!! ❤❤❤

You are so right. I am a Christian school teacher. I teach second/third combo at a Christian school. The most amazing moment for my students is when we sing (worship). We sing daily. The rest of the teachers in the school don't understand how wonderful it is or how it can create a sense of community and love in the classroom. Singing together changed the lives of these little Christians. I give them the printed words to the songs, and parents tell me how the kids keep the word pack with them everywhere they go.

Kim, I don't think that you did it wrong at all. You sing your heart and soul out to the LORD GOD JESUS CHRIST ALMIGHTY, truly. My husband, myself and our son used to watch and listen to you sing on the videos with the bands albums. Maybe, Consumed and We Cry Out. Then, a lot of KZbin. I see your focus always being on the One you are singing to, our Great God and Saviour. My husband just "died" yesterday. I feel like it is my fault, for believing the enemies lies. I said a whole lot of things that I shouldn't have. I got so jealous and mad at my husband for being so good to everyone else. He is the maintenance man where we live and he gives it his all. I could see it wearing on him and begged him to take it easy. But he was worried about us having money to get a house and stuff since he will he able to retire soon. Huge load, long story, but please pray for us. God gave me visions of what was going to happen, just like He has done all throughout my entire life. I can even remember Him showing me my Mom and her situation and need before He sent me to her. I have stories of God's goodness and mercy all through my life. I'm so overwhelmed, lonely and sad in this dark season....even though He let me know that it was coming. Look up. Our redemption draweth nigh. I've known that JESUS/GOD was coming to save us, all my life. It's always felt so close, and yet, so far away. But it's gotta be close now. So close. He is with us, always. Hallelujah, AMEN.

Yup! I’m the “weird” one!! The enemy tried so hard to shut my mouth by using people of my church to tell me “we don’t sing like that” or “you’re too loud” long story short 10 years later I’m still at the same church with the same people who the enemy had tried to use shut me up, praising God with all that he has giving me!!! Love to sing out loud and if that means I’m the only one so be it but I will never go back to where the enemy had my mouth taped shut on Sundays. 🔥 I’ve only shared the whole details of my testimony with a few people at my church but the response is always “wow and here I am thinking of leaving church because I was looked at weird Or they hurt my feelings” thanks Kim for everything you are doing to advance the kingdom of God!!! 🙏🙌

Kim, hi honey! I see that you are trying so hard to understand and build the right way to do things and I want to tell you that you don't need to... There's bad in pretending to speak for someone and explain their views, no other but the self can do that, I believe that is wrong to speak for someone and way more when that person has a live on the realm... We all get a chance to be here and do and say what we want, when we leave we don't want any other to speak for us, no matter how accurate or not they could be... Let each one person decide what to do with what they understand about praying... Personality I love nice voices singing, that's why I chose your songs when you came across my feed... And I love the lyrics too, specially the one you mentioned you just want to be in the presence, yes, enjoy that as much as you please and know that experience is yours to keep but not everyone will live it the way you do... Church on Sundays have different experiences for many people, don't trying to stablish a certain way to look at things because that's why we all have eyes, each person will look at things from their perspective and will enjoy from their perspective... I bet you a million dollars that many people go to church just because they want to socialize or just because they like the sense of belonging somewhere... At church everyone sings, maybe you've been to many where people don't sing because when you are singing all they could be wanting to do is to hear you, but trust me that in every church no matter their voices everyone sings... And the music industry is just humongous, giant, out of this world huge because most of humanity loves music, if I had to choose someone for a singing project be it religious or not I would choose someone who has the nicest voice, I wouldn't treat it like if whoever that doesn't even have a nice voice can be in front of a mic and I would spend millions in putting that out there for many not to like it, you know what I mean? The music industry is not evil, it's a mean where artist get to be known and believe me that much of their success is coming from their overall qualities... So I'm watching you lately being so stressed for something you shouldn't be at all... Be yourself, express yourself but don't worry about the industry taking over the planet or feeling the assignment to make it the right way to do things... Don't worry be happy Kim 🌟

Singing is one of the very very few activities that make all the lobes of the brain communicate with each other. Truth that we learn in song sits deeper than things we learn other ways. Also, when we sing in community, the heartbeats of those singing together synchronize, and people experience a greater sense of community and belonging. So, I wholeheartedly agree, we need more group singing from the whole group ❤️🔥❤️🔥 I get so excited when o see more and more people in our congregation singing during the worship!!

1 Cor 14:26 "What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up." does not mention worship leader, or even pastor. I've a little bit of understanding of the Azuza street revival and it sounds like the above. Reflecting on this issue I've realized I've not memorized many songs because I don't have to --- there's an overhead projector or TV screen. Jesus and his disciples sang hymns together and that apparently without a guitar. Having one person responsible for hearing from God we miss the beauty of allowing whom the Spirit might choose, instead of the professional angle. We become dependent upon man instead of Holy Spirit. Yes Holy Spirit can and does use worship leaders, but is that the most healthy paradigm all the time?

Great point about communal singing! I have often thought that worship would be better without the PA system. In many churches going totally unplugged would also sound a lot better... and it would draw in the people better too. Amplification creates a two-tier setting - those who are (good enough to be) amplified and those who aren't. But 100% unplugged that barrier is gone.
@briandalrymple99864 ай бұрын
I absolutely agree with you about worship becoming hijacked by the industry. It used to be, as you so rightly said, where everyone would sing in church, and the question is, why? The reason; Songs were easy to learn, glorified God, enabled a freedom that allowed an entering in and worshipping from a spirit led heart. Now the songs are convoluted with more words and melodies that do need greater singing and musical abilities than was once required. The music industry has a lot to answer for, and must take blame for complicating how worship now is. Also, song writers have dropped the ball too, by allowing themselves to be entrapped into thinking, “More is better”, instead of, “Keep it simple stupid”. I find myself now longing for the simpler songs that allowed for familiar chord progressions, simpler rhythms and simpler words to memorise.

That's where The Holy Spirit fills you, strengthens you, empowers you, loves you in such an intimate way. All the angels in heaven sing praises to Our Father daily so why should we be any different? Jesus deserves all the honor, glory, and praise... so let's lift our voices in praise to our dad who saved us, delivered us, redeemed us, and continues to workout our Salvation. Giving us a new spirit, a new hope, new joy, a new song 🎵 He is worthy!! 🙌✝️🙌 The worldly industry has no place dipping their hands in such a sacred act in an attempt to disrupt, destroy, distract, change and take away from the sanctity of a truly intimate, personal, Holy, and anointed appointment with Our Heavenly Father. Our Father is so delighted and proud of you. He is with you! Blessing everything you touch and every step you take for His Glory and to build up our brothers and sisters in Christ for Revival. For Revival is soon to come in Jesus Mighty name 🙏 Continue to Stand strong in the faith!
