Thanks for including prices for France, US and Canada. Vert helpful. I am just amazed by the depth of selections.

Fun fact about GiFi is that they’re from Villeneuve sur Lot in the Lot et Garonne and they employ a huge fraction of the population of the town. Which is good because the town used to be a bustling market town but has really badly suffered following various economic hits and the death of the high street

That has to be the most cleanest and most organized dollar store I have ever seen. Shout out from Massachusetts, USA

G'day from Melbourne , Australia where the 2 dollar shops ( adjusted for currency exchange) are just as messy and disorganised.

Another good place to find inexpensive household goods is IKEA. The store is in the heart of Paris on Rue de Rivoli. Just a few blocks from the Louvre.

Unfortunately they have moved 🥲 as of September 8! I should have mentioned it… they are now much further out at place d’Italie

This store is better than any dollar store in NYC. Incredible selection and reasonable prices. What a find. Thanks for sharing. This is the kind of store that tourists as well as those from another country moving to Paris can really use. Wish they'd open up here! We already have Aldi and Lidl stores.

That dollar store was fabulous and I think the in the USA is many steps down from “Gifi” You are doing such a great job getting those uninformed “informed”. I love your KZbin channel.

Hello, I did not know that France had Dollar stores? Thanks for sharing GiFi. YOu said the Action stores are located where? In the suburbs of the major cities in France. Gifi looks great and affordable. I think our Canadian dollar stores are cheaper. Thanks for sharing.

Nice tour! The title made me giggle, just the thought of Americans flocking to the equivalent of Wal-Mart because it’s “iconic” … on the other hand, it’s nice for people who have never lived here to see that Paris a real city, not just a 3D immersive postcard. Gifi seems like a nice alternative to the sometimes-overpriced MonoPrix and the “mini-Ikea” shopping layout at Normal, where you have to weave your way though the entire store just to find one specific thing. I will have to remember this next time I need some little un-findable item! Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Keep going!

I’m always so interested what prices are like at regular stores not for tourists and grocery stores. Funny I hate grocery shopping at home but one of my favorite things to do when I’m in another country! Loved this type of video!

The French equivalent to our UK Poundland is Deux Euro. THAT store you're at looks POSH to me! I love Monoprix anyway. And if the careful visitor ventures to St Denis there is a high street full of (imo) fab clothes shops of great colour and variety and a real lively vibe. Ok if you d ont like polyester market stall clothes...maybe dont go there but I loved it.

Great video! I’m moving to Paris next year, and I love learning about the different stores. I’m so used to getting everything at Target, so I have a lot to learn. What do you think of stores like Darty?
@AriellelaparisienneАй бұрын
Darty is super useful for household appliances ! Darty, fnac, boulanger, Castorama, Bricorama, Leroy merlin are all in a similar veine and will be super useful for your move !! ☺️

Great to know. Is it common in France to call the register, "the cash"? I don't want to make mistakes on my next visit.
@shinyshinythingsАй бұрын
The French word is ‘caisse’ so I think she’s just Americanized that. :)
@AriellelaparisienneАй бұрын
^ exactement ! 😉 if I was talking to Jean I would say “on se retrouve à la caisse” = let’s meet at the cash

Did they have a wine opener and plastic wine cups? We are planning on an outdoor picnic next summer and don’t want to bring more than we have to…. I love your channel! Have you done a video on pharmacy products. I am reading on Reddit that skin care and sunscreens are much better for UV protection. Interested in your thoughts!
@puccalandАй бұрын
You can find these in any supermarket.
@shinyshinythingsАй бұрын
I don’t know how common this is, but recently I went into a tiny convenience store in the 7ème for a bottle of wine, and when I asked at the register if they had anything to open it with, the owner just opened it for me on the spot. Better than having to lug around a bottle opener your whole trip just for one picnic. :)
@AriellelaparisienneАй бұрын
All good suggestions ! But to answer, yes you definitely can buy a wine opener and plastic cups at Gifi 😊 it might be useful if you are planning on enjoying more than one bottle 😂 I haven’t done a video on pharmacy products yet ! Mostly because I have a very minimal skunk care routine and I don’t like to use a lot of products but something I can definitely do ☺️

@laurent90210Ай бұрын
are those products European or Chinese-made?
@shinyshinythingsАй бұрын
100% made in China, based on what I’ve seen. There are also independent bazaars all over Paris, where you’ll find the same kinds of items, just packed in tighter, with less organizational flair. GiFi is a better shopping experience.
