Far Rockaway is a nice borough, I stayed in Far Rockaway for the second time the year before last year. I would like to get the opportunity to explore a little bit more and visit some other areas within the borough.

My dad grew up in Rockaway. When I was little, he used to let me wrap my arms around his neck and he would swim out with me on his back. He showed me how to spot those undertow areas. You can see the difference in the patterns of the water in certain spots.

I grew up going to beach 9th street. Believe Owen when he says if you don’t know where to swim, do NOT take Rockaway Beach water first granted. There are 30 foot drop offs that create whirlpool. That undertow can suck you down quickly. You really have to swim with someone familiar at Rockaway Beach

Down near beach 9th you can look see the patterns if you stand there and watch for awhile but up near the higher numbers where the waves are plenty you can’t tell so easily. Like up near the 60s the water is much choppier. Another thing is never swim too close to the rock jettys because there’s also a vortex there where you’ll get stuck there and slammed against the rocks over and over.

When I was a child, I think I must have been around 12, I was swimming by B116th and a rip current pulled me and I swear I was going to drown and a woman , God bless her wherever she is, saved me. You are right about those waves.

Do u know where the El captain grocery store is at on 72st by the manor pj's? That's where my homie stays at by the brewery last time I was there they just had opened a dispensary there. Yeah bro I love the beach there it looks like u can walk for miles on it I'll be back in August I'm from Compton Cali West Coast but always had love for the East Coast specifically far Rock it's a special place salute.last time I was there they took me to grub at the Dominican spot by the mc Donald's I believe it's on mott
