i just started working there! i have been feeling extremely anxious about working there (even tho i have trained for a few days already). today is my first day working without any more training and i’m so nervous. how long did it take you to get the hang of everything? the front desk stuff is mainly what im the most concerned about getting the hang of. new jobs are so anxiety inducing😩

congrats on getting the job! honestly since my planet fitness wasn’t a super busy location compared to those that are in the city i was able to kinda just stand at the computer and practice learning where everything was in the system. during downtime i used to pretend i was signing up someone for a new membership or like i was canceling a membership stuff like that. as for all the other stuff, it comes with repetition. you get used to doing walk around so they don’t take super long anymore. the desk stuff becomes easy after i would say 1 month or 1.5 months. don’t be nervous! you got this!

The only night position I ever see for my local PF is Overnight Cleaner. Is that your job title or are you Front Desk Associate? The job description for cleaner seemed to indicate doing front desk work as well.

My position during the time of this video was “Member Services Representative”. Usually that specific job title includes anything except overnight. Overnighters in my franchise get $1 more per hour than regular Member Services Representatives. The overnight position does include cleaning and front desk work, but all of the positions except for Personal Trainer have that included in their job descriptions. If you’re interested in working at your local PF, I would call them or go in and ask for they are hiring for the regular Member Services Representative position. Overnighters work specifically from at least 10pm-6am in my area.

if it’s any reassurance, there’s minimal actual talking to people if you’re doing the cleaning work instead of the front desk work. but i totally understand! planet fitness does accommodate if you have extenuating or special circumstances so if you really want to work there, reach out to their manager and talk to them about potential accommodations before you decide to put in an interview.

you can’t workout while you’re on the clock which makes sense. unless you’re a trainer who’s demonstrating exercises for a member or holding a small group training session, it’s not something they’re okay with paying for. you can workout before your shift, after your shift, and when you’re off the clock.

it is a good job for a college student! its a casual environment! however i would check with your manager about homework/study policies during your free time/downtime. my manager said it was okay at first but then my regional manager banned it. i still studied in my free time but checked the door often bc if my regional manager walked through and saw me i could’ve gotten in trouble 😂

benefits i believe are only available to full-time employees. i didn’t qualify for any of those benefits as a part-time employee at my location. as for the black card membership, they’re supposed to give it to you after your first 30 days. my manager let me come in and work out at my location without it though since i worked there. i couldn’t work out at any other planet fitness until i got my black card membership though

lol hi! I'm looking into getting back to planet after a year but I never cancelled my past membership therefore I have fees due. I was wondering if i could just create a new account or will it still appear on your side?

i mean technically you can create a new account, but if for whatever reason you come into the club and give them your name or phone number your old account will probably pop up and then it's at the manager's discretion whether they let you into the club after that. honestly i would just pay whatever fees you owe since you already have an active membership. the pf i worked for is talking about banning people who don't pay. usually if you're banned from one planet fitness, you're banned from all of them. good luck

it depends on where you work honestly. different states have different laws regarding minimum wage. usually the starting pay is around minimum wage. in my case, we get a pay increase every 30 days up to 90 days. i would reach out to your local planet fitness to see what they start at.

congrats on getting hired! at my planet fitness at least, people tend to stay a bit longer, but for the most part, yes, a lot of people quit. if you want to get hired as an asm, my advice is to first show your manager that you can do your job well and that you know your job well. then try going for that asm spot! and yes we do have to clean the toilets but thankfully we have toilet brushes for that.

i was told that as long as it’s black or neutral and doesn’t cover the planet fitness logo. they preferred if we wore a sweater with the shirt on top instead of a zip up over the whole sweater. hope this helps!

To be honest, I applied to a bunch of different gyms. I chose to work at a gym to further support my career in fitness. You can’t work out during your shift, but you can work out before or after your shift. :)

I didn’t work for or interview with Blink, so I’m not sure of their specific questions. Generally at gym interviews, if you mention their specific brand’s culture and why you’d be a good for in and for it, you’ll most likely get the job
