I’ve watched Moulin Rouge for so many times, that I can still picture clearly Nicole’s expressive facial expressions as she was singing her parts. I totally got a “keeping it strong while being fragile” vibe from her facial expressions alone. Should have really won the best actress Oscars that year.

@@belenheredia2024 I agree. Those 3 films are my favourite movies led by her, and think those are her best works (that I've watched). And I actually suspect that the Oscar that she won for The Hours was actually meant for her performance in Moulin Rouge the year before.

@@topixomar6132 I don't care how good the story is, I will forever hate the movie A Beautiful Mind for robbing Moulin Rouge of the recognition it deserved that year. Chicago winning Best Picture the year after did not make up for it, it just rubbed salt in the wound.

Moulin Rouge had everything: good (adapted) storyline, amazing acting, amazing singing, amazing score, amazing cinematography, amazing direction by Luhrmann, funny moments, heartbreaking moments. A true classic!
