I was going about every 3 weeks and one priest said I was scrupulous, that I had a mental problem, that I can’t live like this. Then the following few times when I saw that he was the priest in the confessional, I would walk away from the church. He made me feel like I was a nut case. Ever since, I’ve travelled over an hour to the nearest major Cathedral where no one would know or remember me.

I've been watching your videos for awhile & just subscribed. I'm a much older woman but you speak to me. I think it's so wonderful you catch yourself; temptation comes & you say no. What a blessing! I returned to the Catholic church after 40 years. I still went to church but protestant churches where I didn't have to confess to a priest; I loved the Lord yet still gave into temptation & most of the time didn't have a problem with sin ...I suppose I put the Holy Spirit in the basement of my heart. Now I have regrets as to why did I not catch it or myself. Yes I go to confession often & mass as often as I can. I pray for my children & grandchildren to be kept from temptation, delivered from evil. We all have free will and the little foxes get in. I don't like gory movies at all but I saw the report of the woman who was killed being caught on fire, then read a report where another person was caught on fire. So much violence & disrespect for life. Evil is running rampart even more where we're desensitized to killing & perverse things. You make great points & I think your videos are helping others. God bless you. I lived in Brooklyn when young, lots of memories there. Have a Blessed & healthy New Year. 💕

Straight facts! Your video reminded me about a time I was sharing a cautionary tale with a friend who’s pursuing a career in the entertainment industry because I truly believe that once you reach a certain point, you’ll likely face a moment where you’re tempted to compromise your integrity. It might only happen once, but even that one decision can have a lasting impact. As Christians, we’re called to stand firm in our faith and values, even when it’s difficult-even if it means walking away from an opportunity or slowing the progress of our career. This principle doesn’t just apply to the choices we make in our work but also to the media we consume. If there’s anything-even remotely-that is offensive to God, it’s time to let it go and look for something that honors Him and is more spiritually fruitful. Whether it’s the roles we take on, the shows we watch, or the music we listen to, everything should align with our faith and reflect our desire to glorify God. I encouraged my friend to think about this and trust that God will provide a better path when we put Him first and frequently seeking God in the sacraments and personal prayer.

Hello. New subscriber. As a side note, if you like entertainment you should read the books. They tend to not have the explicit. Especially any show based off a classic film. Hollywood has warped a lot. My favorite romance novel is The Notebook but I can no longer watch the movie. Anyway, great video. I’m in RCIA and have been going to Daily Health. It has done wonders on reforming me and correcting my mental health in ways therapy has never been able to do.

Do churches still offer non face to face confession anymore?
@kzbaby200218 күн бұрын
Yes. Most offer both options with the priest in the center able to be at the screen or face to face.

Yes, absolutely! And it depends on the parish and how they set things up.

Confession is one of the sacraments I struggle with the most. I have trauma, depression and anxiety... I overthink and hyper analyze everything. I only became Catholic in my thirties and I find myself constantly thinking: Wait, did I confess that? did I confess this memory? Etc, etc. Then I struggle with feeling like I didn't examine my conscience properly because if I had I would have remembered those sins before confession and... it just keeps getting worse. It's a horrible spiral. I've stepped away from confession entirely for a time as I try to sort out my mental health issues... It doesn't help that our current priest doesn't speak English very well so when I try to ask him for guidance I don't understand his advice and he doesn't understand what I'm asking... I tried seeking a priest outside our community but every time I try to make an appointment he's busy... Anyway, sorry... don't know why I'm sharing all this. I guess maybe in hopes someone who sees this will say a prayer for me. I need so much prayer in this struggle. I'm really, really lost right now when it comes to how to tackle this beautiful but confusing sacrament.

My husband is a tv junky. We watch a lot of series. If there is too much sex we usually stop watching. Otherwise if it’s some sex I usually look down. Not that I’m a prude but it doesn’t add to the show and it degrades the act. And they make it so realistic today it’s ridiculous.

When I went to see the movie CONCLAVE (which I was worried about already that it might be heretical or have undertones of being anti-Catholic) there was a preview of the new Nicole Kidman film and it was so disturbing I felt like I needed to go to confession after! I didn't choose to watch that preview, but everywhere we look we have depravity and sin shoved in our face. The world wants to desensitize us to unimaginable sins and sadly it's working for the majority of people.
@JoesPalace18 күн бұрын
I went to confession yesterday the priest had his smart phone laying on table next to him. This is the second time I've seen this the other time was a different priest. I looked at the cell phone and said oh you have your cell phone in the confessional? He said yeah. I asked him if that was breaking the seal of the confessional? He said it wasn't recording. I said not that you know of and left!
@thatblackcatholicchick18 күн бұрын
Priests can not legally break the seal of confession, or else they will be stripped of the priesthood and will be automatically excommunicated. They can't even do that for court cases or investigations. Even if someone admitted to murder or any kind of heinous crime, they simply can not reveal that. They take the vows and sacrament of Holy Orders very seriously. There are several priests who have been killed by government regimes because they would rather die and be martyred than break the seal. It's a real thing. A grave matter. Also, realize that for some parishes, there may not be a bunch of people at confession, so he could perhaps be using his phone to read scripture. I know our pastor will pray the Divine Office for the day because our confession happens during one of the hours that he has to be praying. He has pulled it out to give me quotes from saints, scripture, or other things that relate to the conversation of what I'm struggling with during our confessional. But it's never used to record anything. If he is a priest who has the responsibility to run a parish mostly by himself or is the head pastor, he might need his phone on hand to be reached. There are a number of legit reasons that have nothing to do with recording confessions. So I think that you should probably give him the benefit of the doubt - and not have fear about him doing anything nefarious. Of course, if you feel uncomfortable, then you have a right to go somewhere else as well, but I don't think this is something that I would personally worry about.
@JoesPalace18 күн бұрын
@@thatblackcatholicchick Yes I understand all of that but cell phones can be hacked and anyone could be listening!
@thatblackcatholicchick18 күн бұрын
@JoesPalace I think you're giving your own fears and suspicious a little too much power. If we honestly think about it, no one is really interested in any of our confessions like that. In fact, it's quite prideful (pride being one of the 7 deadly sins) to think we are so important that anyone is going out of their way to do that. And look at what it's doing... Exactly what the devil wants. Keeping you potentially away from or fearful of confession. Just a thought.

@@thatblackcatholicchick Both of these priests were in their 20's so I don't think they are naive about cell phone security risks! It makes me wonder if the rumors about the Catholic church cooperating with the FBI are true!

@@JoesPalace ok... So here's the thing. Young Catholic priests are the MOST conservative of all the generations of priests today. As per: www.ncronline.org/news/younger-us-catholic-priests-increasingly-identify-conservative-says-new-report www.americamagazine.org/faith/2023/11/20/young-conservative-priests-synod-246549 crisismagazine.com/podcast/why-are-young-catholics-more-conservative-guest-fr-gabriel-mosher-op www.nytimes.com/2024/07/10/us/catholic-priests-conservative-politics.html It sounds to me like you're making every excuse to not utilize the sacrament and let your own scrupulosity get the best of you. That's something you need to bring to prayer, nothing I or anyone says will convince you to believe what's not a threat if you have convinced yourself it is. We can pray for you. In the meantime, simply find another parish to confess. It's really that simple.

What are your thoughts on Rahner's inclusivist notion of "anonymous Christians", those who perform good works due to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit but do not believe in the Gospel simply as a result of ignorance, not their own will? It is supported by the view that, though Jesus said that "no-one comes to the Father except through me" that does not necessarily imply that one must believe to be saved, simply that Christ is the vehicle of salvation.
@thatblackcatholicchick17 күн бұрын
I don't know who that is. One can not call themselves a Christian if they aren't baptized or if they don't know Christ. So there isn't a such thing as an anonymous Christian. If one doesn't believe in the gospel, then they aren't Christian. There is no Christian without the gospel or Christ. So that theory in and of itself collapses on that basis alone. You have Jews and Muslims who live a good life, but don't believe in Christ as the Messiah. There are others in that situation as well. Their salvation is between them and God.

God bless you in your discernment. Please don't debase people you call "rad trads." I attend the Traditional Latin Mass and I wear a head covering in church. I pray the Rosary in Latin ( I haven't yet completely learned the Apostle's Creed, the Salve Reginia, and the final prayer.) People who attend TLM have a deep love of God, Our Savior, and our Mother Mary and have a deep respect for the beauty and solemnity of worship. That being said, I try to go to confession once a week or every two weeks. It's always hard for me.
@thatblackcatholicchick17 күн бұрын
I am making a commentary on those who have debased me verbally on this channel and who continue to cause unnecessary division on social media because of their allegiance to a liturgy, while blashpeming another. They need to be called out. Wearing a veil does not make one trad. It makes one simply a Catholic woman who has made a choice in how she worships. Degrading others for not making that choice is a whole other level. And that's exactly what I experienced on this platform. It doesn't matter what language one prays in. Whether it's English, Latin, French, Italian, Russian, Mandarin, etc. We are all praying to the same Christ. The divisive rhetoric needs to stop.
