She wasn’t thinning out your hair. She was point cutting your hair. Point cutting helps to blend the hair with the other lengths so it’s not choppy going from long to short. I’m a cosmetologist. If she was thinning out your hair, she would using thinning shears 💯

Looks beautiful but I don’t think you need the heat that high for your hair type. You’ll probably get some heat damage so make sure you use a good hair mask when you wash your hair

She wasn’t thinning it at all she was making the blend more seamless around your face frame. I do it all the time with my clients in the salon. If she went in and just chopped a straight line it would’ve felt so heavy and had no movement around your face. She’s excellent at cutting. She looks like she’s learned a lot of different techniques.

It technically does thin it but it more so diffuses that bottom line so that it’s not so blunt & flat like you said. Similarly to layers it will give more movement and body when you wear your hair curly
