I'm an overnight stocker. The work is easy, but it can be pretty stressful because the managers ( well at my store ) expect you to be sonic the fucking hedgehog. I was sent to do OGP one day bc a lot of people called out and I actually liked it. I was pretty much taught for about 5 minutes then they left me alone to figure out the rest 😅

@@FTA.2703 sorry for the late reply, I'm just now seeing this. Each shift of stockers have their own set of responsibilities so I can't really answer this from a daytime stocker POV. From my experience, only overnight associates can listen to music with one earbud though - Also yes, first thing when we clock in, we all have a group meeting with the managers in charge for the night and they tell us where we're individually or in a pair/team going for the night to stock. - Since I'm overnight, a typical shift ( 10pm - 7am ) is us: • Stocking ( we must finish though by 6am ) • Use equipment to tag stickers on our overstock ( the items that doesn't have room on the shelf ) • take cardboard to the back room • "Zone" for at least the final hour ( make the aisles look all pretty and presentable by opening time ) - There's a little bit more, but it's kinda complicated to explain in words without confusing the hell out of you 😅

I can tell you having worked in a similar situation albeit here in slower less busier Australia, I swear I would love to go to America or Canada. So much more efficient quick and the stickers to mark excess or over stock makes tracking of goods in real time easier to find everywhere in the store. Here customers regularly get disappointed because the stock cannot be found and the system is inefficient

i did ogp from when my store started it (october 28th 2019) until i got tired of being the only one moving faster than a snail (early february 2020. like 2 weeks before covid blew up). the vast majority of the time i did the Pick walks, since my boss new i was "like a robot" with it. but my store had a problem with putting alot of the work on the ones they knew were "faster", while letting the slower ones just kinda hang out in the staging area complaining about their bf's and whatnot. and i don't know about the store in the video, but my store has cameras all in the staging areas of the back, and filming anything would be noticed and probably not allowed/at least a verbal warning. but, that was just my store. every store is different.

Usually at orientation: it will take place in the associate resource room in employees only section in your Walmart that you applied to. When you arrive at the room, you will have the orientation with other people who you may or may not be working with. From there, you will get to know everyone and will receive your vest and badge and will get to know a little about Walmart and the staff and will also go over the rules in the handbook you receive. You will also receive your schedule and will find what days you work and what days you have off and also info about PTO and such and usually the next day after orientation so when you start the training for your specific position. However if there is a circumstance that prevents you from being there the next day you can just start your training on the next day you show up after your orientation day. Usually the orientation day is just a orientation day for you to get to know everyone you will work with and get info about your job and such and you wouldn’t normally start on that day. My recommendations: listen to info the manager gives and don’t be afraid to ask questions or make any changes to your first day if you need to. I did also forget to mention that you would do some of the virtual training on the computers to get you started on the job.
