Come write a Short Story with me ~ Pinterest Bord, Playlist and Library Visit for Inspiration

as my semester at uni started again, I wanted to do something fun and work on a little short story. Follow along for some inspiration and the process of plotting, writing and editing. I also try to visit all the beautiful libraries Vienna has to offer ~ this week I headed to the library of the german department (et al.). It is magical!

Your videos are inspiring. I watch them and want to sit down and write fantastic stories. The library! Gorgeous, the walls groaning with history and literature and brilliance. I love a good library. Memory: speaking of memory I'm reading Proust. Ten pages a day with a group. We read and can comment on a shared google doc regarding the days pages. It's so good. And so much about memory. I haven't tried a short story in a while. I think I will. Four pages. Memory... Wonderful videos. The chipped mug - kintsugi - japanese art of repairing cracks with lacquer - embracing imperfection. seems like that's exactly how you're handling the Scotland ordeal. Thanks for sharing those playlists and the Pinterest board. I haven't done things like that with my writing. I might try it. All the best.

An welches Magazin schickst du deine Stories? Ich wollte das früher auch mal probieren, aber ich bin ein totaler Neuling, also würden sie mich eh nicht nehmen. Das zweite Problem das ich habe ist, das ich nicht weiß, wie das in Österreich steuertechnisch funktioniert, wenn man einen Vollzeitjob hat, ob ich da im Endeffekt nicht sogar Geld verlieren würde, wenn ich nebenbei was dazuverdiene, weil ich z.b. ein paar Stories zu Magazinen schicken würde. Hast du dich da informiert? Ich denke mal du hast auch nen Teilzeitjob als Studentin und da ist es ja auch eine Frage, wie das steuertechnisch so läuft bei nem Nebenverdienst.

Mit den Magazinen verdient man in der Regel nichts. Da geht es vorrangig darum sich einen Namen in der Literaturszene zu machen, um dann leichter in einen Verlag zu rutschen. Es gibt auch viele Wettbewerbe und Stipendien, die eine Veröffentlichung voraussetzen, da sind die Magazine eine tolle Möglichkeit. Ich schicke an Verschiedene, google mich da immer durch. Auf literaturport.de gibt es z.B. eine gute Liste, wo man dann bei den einzelnen Magazinen schauen kann, ob sie Texte annehmen und ob es Themenvorgaben gibt :)

@@luise_marianne Danke für den Link, werde ihn mir mal anschauen :) Ich habe selbst einige Google Sessions hinter mir und habe genug eZines gefunden, wo man Kurzgeschichten hinschicken kann. Die zahlen in der Regel, was ich weiß aber. Zwar nicht viel, aber doch etwas ;) Und die Self Publishing Route interessiert dich nicht? Das wäre auch etwas, das mich interessieren würde, aber da muss ich mich vorher informieren, wie das steuertechnisch läuft. Ob es sich überhaupt als Vollzeit arbeitender Mensch lohnt, sowas zu machen. Das war eigentlich immer der Hauptgrund, wieso ich für mich selbst schreibe, weil ich Angst habe, das mich der Staat dafür bestraft, wenn ich etwas dazuverdiene.

@@DanielRumbacher Online Magazine sind wohl wieder etwas anderes, damit hab ich mich noch gar nicht beschäftigt, auch mit dem Self Publishing nicht. Ich würd da lieber die „traditionelle“ Variante wählen^^ Verstehe ich gut, das muss man sich wirklich durchrechnen…

@@luise_marianne Heutzutage kommt man glaube ich aber besonders durch Kurzgeschichten und auch durch Self Publishing in die normale Route aka echte Verlage rein glaube ich. Sehr viele deutsche Autoren machen das nebenbei, neben ihrem Job, weil sie sich anfangs ja nicht durchs schreiben finanzieren können. Nur die allerwenigstens deutschen Autoren können sich wirklich ihr Leben davon finanzieren, sondern haben nen Hauptjob. Es sei denn man ist wirklich wirklich gut ;) Kommt halt darauf an, welche Art Kurzgeschichten man schreibt. Für mich ist das hauptsächlich Science Fiction. Aber auch im Bereich Fantasy werden gerne Kurzgeschichten genommen. Ich kenne alleine durch Foren viele, die sich so ihren Lebensunterhalt verdienen. Ich glaube die normale Route ist nur für die Leute, die wirklich überragend sind.
