I can definitely understand their lack of energy/enthusiasm for those interviews. Lee Hyun (singer who has been with Big Hit for ages) recently posted a vlog in which he pretended to be their manager and followed them around for a day. The day that was filmed was the same day BTS did those interviews. They did 10 interviews in a row and it was just dumb question after dumb question. 😬

Zach Sang is usually a Greta interviewer. I always appreciate that guy, but some of the questions this time weren't his usual standard. Doesn't mean he didn't ask good questions, but this editor chose the flatter ones. Bts like Zach Sang, have appreciated him since they had their first decent American interview with him in 2018. That's why Jungkook was asking about his dog and said that he's proud of Zach (yes, it was aimed at him)

On a more serious note, I hate the way that American interviewers treat BTS. They don't treat them with respect or as real artists and why? Is it because they're Asian or because their first language isn't English? Is it because their fanbase is mostly comprised of young women? And people treat things that women like as shallow or as a joke Maybe it's because they still treat them as a fad because they deep down think that nothing outside the west will survive? You can look me in the face and tell me I'm reading too much into it. And sure we need silly interviews every once in a while. But tell the last time an interviewer eating butter on top of butter in front of 7 fully grown, amazing, and talented artists was acceptable I mean when Maroon 5 released their song Suger do you think that interviewers were taking out jars of sugar and eating it while interviewing them? No because they would have been fired on the spot

I would say people interviewing one of the biggest bands in the world (or even anyone) should do their research but I’m also wary of working conditions in entertainment companies and maybe they just aren’t given the time to. Or maybe I’m just being too nice 🤷

An american interviewer once said that bighit is the one that chooses which questions can be asked and whatnot. I have a feeling that bighit wants to save thoughtful and sophisticated questions or discussions in a korean setting and resort to quick and fun in american interviews. Although they did have some really good western interviews around 2019 but stuff like commentaries/ livestreams on vlive, press conference and official bangtan content is where they usually go in depth and actually talk about their releases and artistry.

@@ComedianReacts Personally, I think you've got a valid point, Comedian. There are ABSOLUTELY complicating factors like xenophobia & ignorance, as well as the 'boyband' label and how some people in the industry & gp diminish them because of that. But I've also been watching entertainment interviews in the US for years, and a lot of what happens to BTS is the same stuff that happens to other artists as well. As you say, the specific companies are one aspect, the industry itself is another (fast-paced & generally on the shallow side). Additionally, most of these people get 5 minutes max with the boys. And I will shout this from the rooftops repeatedly, but the questions they get very often come from a list either suggested or pre-approved by BH. Also, the questions at the beginning - and some of the others sprinkled throughout, like the pillow question & the birthday comment - are questions from fans, btw. People submit them for the Ask Anything Chat on Most Requested Live every time they have a comeback. Again, personally, I would love to see them cut the volume of interviews they do here in the US. I think it has to do with radio play, but I don't know that it's worth it at this point. I would love to see 3 or 4 longer interviews with people who are far more capable. Zach Sang, for example (and I do not share the fandom opinion that his interview this time was some failure - it was more laid back in some ways, but it was fine), has asked to get them in for one of his full length studio interviews for YEARS, and it has yet to happen. I have no doubt that there are professional reasons that all of these decisions are made, and I guess for me that's what it boils down to. There's a lot we don't see or know about how all of this works, and I don't think it hurts to remember that. Pardon me for unloading here.. Thanks as always for the reaction. 💜 Oh, and soy/butter/egg/rice? YES. Highly recommend. :)

@@cemarie1172 I can understand where they are coming from (if that is the case) however BTS content from Korea is so few and far between because they mainly focus on promoting in the west. We've only seen more Korean interviews, variety shows, etc because of the pandemic. And just because BigHit is the one giving the yes and no's I doubt they're like, "Oh yes, why don't you go ask them the same 10 questions they get asked in every interview, throw in some completely stupid questions, and while you're at it put some butter on top of butter and eat it in front of the boys"

Zach Sang, the one who said "stop, don't stop" to JK singing, is one of their favorite interviewers. He's been great with them in the past. RM has told him repeatedly that he has the best interviews. Sad to say he dropped the ball this time and didn't put in his usual effort with research. He actually listens to their music, though, complimented Yoongi on D-2, and they all bonded over their love of little dog claws clacking on hardwood flooring. I guess everyone has an off day - but what a bitch if it falls on the day you are interviewing living legends.

@@bembolbug 😂 huh! I'm going to have to think about that and its wider implications. I mean, I thought it was sauce and starch mainly. It does offend my sensibilities that so many North Indian restaurants (on the US west coast at least) combine their menu with Lebanese or Greek food. Sure, spice trade yada yada, but there are quite a few countries with different cuisines in between those areas! I'm not sure if it's the typical "fusion" concept that bothers me. It seems like that is based on righteous indignation that fellow Americans don't know where their food comes from half the time and not flavor/texture. @@SemilieJ95 what did she say exactly? the commentary video was kind of long, so i didn’t get the chance to watch all of it. for the record, though, if she just mentioned that bighit didn’t allow her to ask certain questions, i wouldn’t say that’s exactly tattle taling. plenty of interviewers have talked about it before and it’s pretty much common knowledge at this point that bighit does that, along with a bunch of other entertainment companies. lmk what exactly she said, though, so i can form a more informed opinion. *Edit:* So I watched the commentary video and she did share the questions she asked them, but not their responses to those questions. I think Bighit only said that BTS’ answers to the questions couldn’t be released, so I don’t think she broke any of their terms in revealing the questions she asked. That being said, was it in poor taste for her to reveal the questions? Maybe. From a cultural standpoint, though, I think Indians (speaking as an Indian myself) tend to be fairly outright with things, so she may not have thought it would be a big deal to reveal the question itself, so long as she didn’t share their answers. I think she was just trying to be honest and open and give the fans as much content and information as possible in the commentary video.

There is a lot of misinformation and misinterpretation of Zach Sang’s interview going on around the Internet, especially with the Justin Bieber question. In all fairness Zach Sang has recognized BTS since their first breakout into the US market in 2017. He did so much research on them, even back then, as evidence by his well thought out interviews since 2017 and on. He was probably one of the only interviewers in 2017 and 2018 to give them meaningful, thoughtful, creative questions about their artistry and humanity and treat them with the respect they deserve as people and as artists. He even gives them his full attention even when they speak in Korean, one of the only English speaking interviewers to ever do so. Even to this day he still does the same and still outshines nearly all the western interviewers. Please, before bashing him or getting onto him over this one collab question, think and watch his history with BTS and compare his interviews all these years previously with interviews from other main media entities, especially when BTS was first breaking into the US in 2017/2018. In all honesty I think right now is probably the most relevant time to ask a collab question considering the Ithaca buyout vs asking a collab question years previous when BTS was just breaking into the US (making it seem like they needed a collab to break in even more, which they didn’t need). Zach treats BTS with the utmost respect and care, professionally and personally, and it would be good to not forget their history of friendship in light of one question, as well as not putting Zach in the category of basic western reporter reporting on BTS, because he is far from it. Comedian, I BEG you, please do NOT believe this video that this is what Zach is like, because this video heavily misconstrues Zach. I would ask you to please look for greater understanding of Zach and BTS and their caring relationship with each other by watching all of Zach’s interviews with them from 2017 to now and compare him with other media entities at the time. Your understand and appreciation of Zach will become richer and increase exponentially. Please, PLEASE do not believe this video that makes Zach appear to be lazy and not diligent with his questions, because, truthfully, Zach might be one of the best interviewers out there.

But it’s really a lot of fun if you do not take things that seriously (which i think you don’t)

*I do not know what prompts them to ask and treat BTS like children? There is a language barrier but there is also an effing translator in their in ears. The amount of repetitiveness ughhh*

Tae once posted a picture of himself in the bathtub, naked but covered with bubbles. For everyone to see... He also posted a video of him flexing his muscles. And once made a thirst trap video of him stripping himself (thank god he had a second layer of clothes underneath). And another time I think in an album or photo book put a baby picture of himself naked, with just a small elephant sticker to cover his pp. If he does these things for the public to see, I can't imagine what the members must have seen in their private group chat, nudes wouldn't be too far away from the truth 😂

Not related to the video, but I think you didn't react to this masterpiece. Suga produced a song for an amazing Korean artist, IU. The song is called Eight and it is very beautiful and emotional. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipiypmNmgstmoas
