He was born in modern day Naples. But the history of why Italians “claim” the holiday is because it was to help Americans accept Italian Americans into the country after they (Italians) were being lynched in the south. Pressure rose for Italy to send military. to Italians, Columbus Day doesn’t really have to do with Columbus. It’s more of a tribute that Italians can be accepted and Italians have contributed to America. You don’t have celebrate Columbus, but he is part of the history of North America. It was the Spanish that inadvertently participated in genocide. They brought disease that preceded their progress. Millions of indigenous people died of disease before the Spanish arrived to conquer them. They basically walked into villages without a fight. 90 percent of the population was exterminated. No need for any celebration, but it is history.

Mexico, Guatemala, Salvador, Peru, etc. ALL of those places still have a vast amount of native populations making a huge bulk of the country… while America, hardly has any Amerindians left.

Like the British the Americans are very ignorant of their history , not the sterilized version taught in schools but the reality of what happened..When the invader’s as Trump likes to call people at the border although Settlers as some prefer there were approximately 15 million indigenous inhabitants or Native Americans at the end of the Indian wars only 280,000 had survived🤯…Likewise with the British and slavery they transported and traded 3 million Africans into slavery routing via Southampton Liverpool and Bristol to the West Indies , this was over a 240 year period until their government outlawed it in 1834 …None of this is on the education curriculum for children or the savagery inflicted on their colonies especially in Kenya and Australia…

One of the funniest people alive. I love Judah Friedlanders comedy. One of those commedians that I laugh through the whole show. And BTW great beard and hair Mr. Friedlander. I can't agree with the content of this video more. It is completely correct. These things have to change if we are to survive as a nation. We need to get rid of Trump but only as a start. Both the Dems and Repubs are tools of the oligarchy and empire. Its just the Repubs are worse. As a nation, we are not number one in anything that gives quality of life to its citizens.
