I agree! I saw the production 2 weeks ago found it chilling and relevant and thought the Porter “standup” scene worked really well and was hilarious, there were howls of loud laughter the night I went from the whole audience

God, and I thought The Globe were doing Shakespeare an injustice. "Have napkins enow about you. Here, you'll sweat for it", is every bit as relevant and important as "If it were done, when 'tis done, then 'twere well it were done quickly." I might make some cuts or change some pronouns to fit the cast, when doing a show, but I would never be so arrogant to add new text/dialogue. John Fletcher barely got away with that!

He is charming and knowledgeable. But I don't approve. The reason for some of these scenes is structural. No curtains, 2 1/2 hour shows and it gives the principal actors a break. I prefer cutting out the whole scene.

The Porter is a vamp so the Thane and the Lady can wash off the blood and change costumes.
