I run a similar Hidetsugo deck and yes, the way state based effects work, nothing goes 'on the stack' until state based effects are resolved, so the legend rule kills your copy/original then you put the Brainstorm Enters, and Dies Flip triggers on the stack in your preferred order. So you can chain clone spells until you hit your pay offs.

I liked more lands in the kinnan deck. Altrasaur was super spicy and I wanted to play it but I didn’t want to rely on my opponents doing something to make my card be more than a 3/3. Sphinx is spicy but still testing. Thanks for covering our tournament. Was good fun.

I’d be very curious to see your version of Hide & Kairi. I threw that list together and just played about 20ish games out and it just feels so clunky. Zero disrespect to the player at all bc the deck is so cool it feels so inconsistent in paper. I wanted a sensei’s top soooooo badly. Maybe cut a couple of the sorcery clones for more consistency cards or maybe blinking? Also really wanted a p-morph.

There's an old judge example of Sad Robot and Elish Norn. ETB does not actually go onto the stack until after state based actions are resolved. Once all state based actions are resolved and there are no more that are created, then all effects that are waiting to go onto the stack are put onto the stack at the same time and you get to choose the order. Loving the decklist. When the card first came out I was looking at making a psuedo Gyruda deck with it but never did put it together. This is giving me new inspiration to do so.

My theory on Malcolm decks doing well is simply that i) treasures are good, ii) dockside being gone means that other treasure generators go up in value, and iii) the format slowing down gives more time for Malcom hits to generate value.

I just watched the salt city final. The zur player only played a land and passed turns 1-4, while two of his opponents played the one ring turn 2. Turn 5 he tutored for and played a rhystic study. Drew 15 cards during a counter war, then played smothering tithe turn 6. The next round he created 35 treasures and drew 8 more cards. Turn 7 won through some weird combo. No commanders were played.

At what point can we call the bans a success? Genuine question. I know it's still relatively early, but when can we reasonably say "if there was a gigantic issue with the bans, it would be known, by now"? So far, I have seen much added diversity (which is awesome), and most decks proclaimed to be dead be very much alive (e.g., all those folks saying without lotus and crypt we'd never see a 5+ CMC commander again, or that red is basically dead without dockside were clearly wrong).

I have a Malcolm Tevesh list that goes the hardest with the broodlord lines, more often than not i never go for peer anymore. I will reanimate the hoarding broodlord, go get saw in half. saw the b lord, get sacrifice and final parting. cast sacrifice 8 black in the pool. convoke the other broolord cast final parting, 4 black in the pool. put scholar of the ages in the yard and persist to hand. persist the scholar, 2 black left in the pool, scholar etb return sacrifice persist to hand. present a loop of casting sacrifice putting scholar in the yard. 7 black in the pool, then casting persist returning scholar to play returning sacrifice persist back to hand. Infintite black mana infinite storm, end the loop returning persist and final parting to hand. find either tendrils of agony or brain freeze. gg. or at that point you could return the broodlord to play for peer and have infinite black mana to go through other lines. i like it cause its far less weak to deflecting swat and bow masters, and is less deterministic, if im not interacted with its a guranteed win
