Seriously glossed over Stephen's walking out on Cellmates. ""Citing stage fright and went abroad." He nearly checked out permanently. Perhaps he hadn't publicly admitted the suicide attempt, when this was recorded. Lot of respect for Fry's willingness to discuss his mental health issues in documentaries and interviews, especially after living with someone, for 15 years, who suffered from depression and anxiety. It's a horrible thing to witness and I can only imagine what it is like to live.

So interesting to see this retrospective of these 2 geniuses prior to Hugh becoming House.

As an American... it's a shame it took over 20+ years with the creation of KZbin for me to enjoy A Bit of Fry and Laurie. I mean, Monty Python was always available to us in the states, not that Fry and Laurie's comedy is exactly on par with Python, but it didn't have to be for me and others to enjoy it back then when it aired or even a few years later. I imagine it's possible that it could have been on a BBC cable TV channel and I just never caught it. Of course, my introduction to Hugh Laurie was from House not knowing he was British until he was on a talk show where he used his true accent and A Bit of Fry and Laurie was subsequently mentioned during the interview. Regardless, I'm happy to be able to see it now at will.

I feel the same way about American shows I had always seen being referenced in other media but never got the chance to see it. Currently watching old SCTV episodes and loving it

Thank you so much for uploading and sharing this!!! ❤ We had been looking all over for this to share with students. We kept coming back to KZbin in the hope that someone would be kind enough to share this episode. Thank you.

I think Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry are probably the best double act we’ve ever had. And I’m someone who had adored Eric and Ern from the early sixties. In fact I saw Morecambe and Wise live on stage in London and it was fabulous. I really do hope Stephen and m’colleague find time to get together and maybe just do a one off special. We had the Reunited show which was great, but not the same as their sketch show.

The fact that they mentioned Oscar Wilde but not House and not even Gun Seller saddens me.

Pretty sure this aired before Hugh Laurie took on House and super stardom.
@codingkriggsofficial Жыл бұрын
@@EA-vd4gd Yeah this was aired in 2005 (based on the copyright in the last few seconds of the video), when House was just getting into season 1, and news of it had probably not carried back to the UK.
