Ahh. It’s really refreshing that my boy Justin confirmed Taako’s homosexuality. I love Taako so much.

SPOILERS "He's dead as fuck. I don't know how many times I have to tell you, Barry's soul has left his body." REALLY Griffin. I see you're not outright saying that you WON'T bring him back, and that's a VERY clever way of deeply implying he's never coming back while staying truthful, but REALLY

As a gay guy myself, I think it’s really sad that Justin has to be bothered with the idea that he’s doing an offensive stereotype. This kind of oversensitivity makes people afraid to make lgbt+ characters. That’s not progress.

Well there is star wars, star trek (and yes there is tabletop for both SW and ST), shadowrun, cyberpunk, battletech (giant mechs), heroes unlimited, teenage mutant ninja turtles and other strangeness (a heroes unlimited extension, but can be on it's own), dead lands (a western trpg), role master, savage worlds, castles and crusades, mutants and masterminds, fate, starfinder, pathfinder, W.O.I.N, traveler, 13th, the strange, and cyber system. Most of these I have not played, but this is what I do know of currently.

I was disenchanted when I heard that the players fudged their dice rolls. The random chance is more exciting.
@geekasauruswreks87894 жыл бұрын
It's not a serious or competitive game. It's a comedy game podcast. No harm. I think it would actually be detrimental to the type of show they do if they didn't fudge rolls occasionally. It's not the same kind of show as Critical Roll, for example. Furthermore, they've failed rolls and Griffin has basically Deus ex Machina'd them out of the ensuing problems. IE, Klarg on the motorcycle when Taako failed a save in the Petals to the Metal arc. It would be worse if Griffin constantly had to do that to keep them from dying or failing to meet an important objective. I imagine he's in on it to some extent and possibly even encouraged it. This is coming from someone who used to be a complete "rules lawyer". Also, you may know this, but "Artemis Entreri" is the name of a character in the Faerûn setting. Your user name reminded me of him, but I see it's another book series.
@Tesana4 жыл бұрын
Thou hast provided a valid point, @@geekasauruswreks8789. As for my username, I was a fan when I was quite young, so I chose it for KZbin at the time.
@RDR9113 жыл бұрын
@@geekasauruswreks8789 To many people, the rules system is an important medium to tell the story through. Dice and their inherent randomness create interesting, one-of-a-kind stories. If they didn't want randomness, Griffin should've written a book. Hell, I've felt many times that Griffin would probably enjoy being an Author more, what with his 15 minutes monologues.
@geekasauruswreks87893 жыл бұрын
@@RDR911 there were definitely elements of randomness. Like I said, I've been a rules lawyer. When playing, I agree entirely with your first sentence. Bottom line for me is: I enjoyed Balance thoroughly and fudged die rolls won't change that. If other people can't enjoy the story now, that's unfortunate because it's more fun to enjoy things. To each their own, though.

@@Sage_the_Turt They Literally say it at 14:46 "if you expect us to play straight dnd I imagine this podcast would be kinda disappointing".
@kennethsmith3832 жыл бұрын
I fully agree with them. DnD sucks to listen to. Maybe if you have minis and it's a visual medium. But a audio podcast? So many rules and things to get bogged down by. And if you're a player, that's fine. But if you want to listen to a campaign and especially if you want to hear a story, it's a bad medium
@norab91122 ай бұрын
I think (and yes I know that I’m VERY late to this comment, but its interesting to think and talk about) that they meant that their style of storytelling wouldn’t translate well into a super rule-following dnd game, or be fun for them to do/play/gm. That’s what I took away from that conversation was at least 🤷♀️

This is my fourth time through Balance, and while I understand the frustration with spoilers, you gotta understand that this campaign is years old and you scroll at your own risk. It is frustrating and I do get it sucks, but there's nothing we can do to stop others from talking about the podcast. Nor should we!

Don't try to oversell this, guys.... Being a DM isn't that hard... If you don't think in a results-oriented way, the story evolves organically...
