I often feel like DMs struggle with power balance in the game. You create this universe for folks to screw around in and there's lots of ways your players can mess with you. There are concepts within the game that the DM might not like, how even objects have hit points. Players should be able to break down doors and smash open wooden chests if they want to. If they want to burn down a building they should be able to do that. It was like that whole flesh to stone argument Griffin had, I didn't agree with him on his decision. The slime has flesh in the same capacity any living creature has. The fact that it's mobile and seeking out food implies it's alive and not necessarily magically animated. I would have allowed it. He just didn't want to make it too easy and while I can respect that, I also appreciate players utilizing their spells in such a manner. I used to use catapult to throw objects from behind enemies to get advantage, my DM agreed to let me do this once per fight, the reasoning being, once they see me do it, it's unlikely to work again. I've learned to try and go with the flow and re-write the story as their behavior dictates. The most important point of D&D is that it's a cooperative writing experience, have fun and let your players change the direction of the story if that's their wishes. D&D doesn't need to be balanced, often times I want to give my players the illusion of being powerful only to chop them down later.

The heartbreak in Travis' voice as he says "I will push as hard as I can back towards my body." The way Taako is just like, no, fuck you, I want my friend back. The way Merle is like fuck this shit Imma pull both these chuckle fucks back to me because fuck if I'm losing them. The way the three characters have gotten so close on their adventures together that even though they give each other a bunch of crap, they love each other so much that they will immediately jump into another plane of existence and risk their lives without a second thought to save their friend. I'm in tears, it's so beautiful. I love them so damn much and how they've really come together, and how their players have become so invested to make that happen, and how you can tell in the beginning of the campaign they would save each other just to keep the story moving forward, and how that slowly turned into they will do anything to save each other out of love and genuine care, and aaaaahhhhhhh

I think it's kind of just the whole deal with Wonderland- I mean, this entire place is an illusion made by liches. We've seen their power. So I think either they're doing this intentionally, and if they're not, it's just their sheer power kind of just blocking any outside forces to further help their contestants (because they feed off of suffering).

Imagine being in a dnd group for nearly 2-3 years, and then all of a sudden the new arc is just your dm saying "show me your character sheet, and delete stuff until I say im happy" and then knowing youll have to do that exact thing for 3-4 months
@breadwinner8010 ай бұрын
I know this comment is a few years old but I don't think that's entirely fair. A lot of the punishments were more story/character related, they had the option to opt out (despite a penalty) and also I give griffin relay here because he's dming his family and not like a group of strangers he barely knows so he probably had some idea of how okay they'd be with this arc

Who wrote the music at 53:35? Is it the same as whoever wrote the music for some of Refuge? I ask cos some of Refuge's music sounded like music from the Bastion OST, and now this one has a bit from "The Mancer's Dilemma" in the background. Did Griffin say he was making music for TAZ himself - if so I guess he's a big fan of Bastion, too.
@skullptures1423 жыл бұрын
Griffin made all the music himself, you can find the crystal kingdom, eleventh hour, suffering game, and journeys end all on his Bandcamp and on KZbin. All music is created by Griffin unless he states otherwise during a break
@Ingestedbanjo3 жыл бұрын
@@skullptures142 that's really cool! But yeah then, I'm 99% sure he must be a massive fan of Bastion or at least have listened to its OST at some point (I don't blame him, Bastion's OST is one of my favourites too up there with Persona 5, FFIX etc.)
@restlessdreams53273 жыл бұрын
@@Ingestedbanjo Griffin actually addressed it. The similarity is unintentional. He and the composer for Bastion both use Garage Band. They just both used some of the same loops.
