I love that Ron Swanson's entire character arc this series was becoming more and more open with his emotions after what could be considered a psychologically traumatic life. He was raised by a lunatic survivalist, was groomed by and married the woman who helped deliver him (Who also had the same name as his mom), and married a crazy psychobitch who brought out the worst in him (And had the same name as his first wife and his mom). I'd like to believe that all this pretty much closed him off from people and it was Leslie and the Parks Department that helped him come out of his shell. Then he started hanging out with Andy (The adopted son he never knew he had) and because of that he met Diane and her kids and actually had a healthy and meaningful relationship that was good for him. He became a father to her daughters and to their son. Him fully admitting that he loved Diane is such a sweet moment that shows how much she and the girls changed him. Ron still kept his core values in the end, but he also learned to compromise and bend. The ending where he takes a job in the Federal Government as leader of a National Park and tells a bunch of strangers his FULL NAME is the climax of his story. He's learned to open himself up and to let people in. It's one reason why I love this series. The characters truly grew as people.

“Arthur my boy, not a minute sooner, it is good to see you.” “Hey-“ “How are you doing Arthur?” “We’ll now that you mention it, I don’t feel too good Dutch, we need more muneh.” “That’s right, don’t worry Arthur, I know just as well as you do we need money, and the fact of the matter is I’ve got the plan for the perfect score.” “Oh yeah? What’s that?” “Third Floor, Pawnee Indiana’s City Hall? We’ll disguise ourselves as noble kind, Workers, I’ll be the foreman and you and Micah are my crew.” “Micah?! Shouldn’t we bring… I don’t know… someone who suits the… unusual finesse for a builder?” “Micah’s perfect, we even practised lines earlier, the point is we’ve got this Arthur, all we have to worry about is that blunt tool, Macklin, and maybe a loose eye. But I promise you, we have got this.” “Hell… yeah, I ain’t got much to lose…” “Plus, extra loot. Micah scoped out the parks and recreation department, some computers that we can take for ourselves and sell to some offshore hackers, none of our business.” “Uhh right…” “Alright, I’ll gather my things you go get Micah, and son…” “What…” “How strong is your power tool…” “Huh?” “It needs to be powered up for this one.” “What the hell are you talking about Dutch.” “Arthur! Look, down, at your crotch… are you gay Arthur?” “it’s… it’s just the way I’m standing.”

1:20 Okay but let's be fair to Ron here, what did Jerry expect? He has been Ron's 'workplace acquaintance' for years since before the series even started, he knows Ron is a diehard Libertarian who hates the government, as Ron makes that as clear as possible since day one, what made him think that showing that in front of Ron would in anyway get a positive response?

I like how Ron started off as the villain of the show and ended as one of the greatest male role models in TV history

I love that he got pissed off not so much because they were annoying, but because of the "Property of gov't" onsie, which goes against EVERYTHING HE BELIEVES. Also, the truth that how much Ron likes spending time with his son also makes him a good dad.

I love how this compilation shows Ron being a dad not only to his biological son but to his stepdaughters, Andy, April, and even Chris.
