Janet despite being this "special thing" at the end, I feel she is the only who has the sad ending saying goodbye to all of them and in some point she represents us all. But I love her so much, D'Arcy Carden did an amazing job!

My fan theory is that Janet is God. She's an immortal omnipresent being with knowledge of all things and the ability to create literally anything out of nothing. Each time she is rebooted she comes back a little more enlightened. We saw that when Derek was rebooted enough times, he became a cosmic entity beyond space and time. Perhaps, when Janet created all of existence, she modified herself so that she may watch over and experience her creation.

Common traits of god is all powerful, omnipotent and unique. Doesn’t really make sense that god would be a servant for everyone else. Plus it’s established there are hundreds of Janets. Janet more represents an angel for me. Makes the scene of her fighting the demons more realistic and entertaining for me too.

@@Samuel.55 She's not either of those things. The only angels we meet are the good place counsel. They clearly made something original outside of theology and its strange to try and pin Janet into these categories she doesn't belong in. This is why Bad Janet isn't a demon which she would be if Good Janet was an angel. As for god they took great pains to try and make zero god or satan analogues, even the judge isn't god, she's just another powerful function of the system.

Of all the Characters endings I think Janet's was the weakest. Effectively continuing into eternity without receiving the rewards for all the growth she had as a "not a girl" throughout the series, kinda understandable but potentially missing the opportunity to have her become more of a person and less of a "Janet" by the end
