+eggory Eh, it's fine. First, you know that he's not going to stick to this line because he's probably already out chasing another squirrel. Second, the Republicans aren't going to let a bill like this pass for Trump to sign. Third, even if it did pass, it would fail the inevitable SCOTUS challenge. Even still, it muddies the waters fantastically on the question of gun control, and the US' (Republican's in particular) inane position on the subject.

eggory Fwiw, the Second Amendment wasn't an inherent right of individuals until the 2008 Heller decision. The notion of gun confiscation, supposedly "in the public's interest", has never been tested in the courts. So, whether it infringes on a right remains to be seen. But, again, it's not going to happen anyway. This is actually healthy for American political discourse... anything that breaks up the tribalism is a good thing.
