Thank you!!! I feel like I’m the only one who feels this way… same for the Grammy’s. So many demonic performances and rituals AND not to mention all the profanity and butt shaking A few years ago, at one of my younger cousins wedding reception was so rowdy with all the raunchy vulgar music. I had to leave after 30 minutes or so. My spirit would not let me relax in that environment, it almost gave me a panic attack. I don’t understand how any Christian can sit for HOURS in those type of environments

I remember listening to the DVD commentary for one of the seasons of the show, and Aaron mentioned the hypocrisy of B.E.T. showing ratchetass videos late night Saturdays into early Sunday mornings. Plus, as someone who grew up being dragged to various Black churches across the country growing up, nothing surprises me wjen it cones to these hustling azz pastors 🤷🏾‍♂️

That was equivalent to when Diddy had the 'Vote or Die" Campaign, and Biden telling Black people they're not Black unless they Vote for him.. In the 80s art didn’t just reflect life, it also inspired life. Remember the afterschool specials that were on ABC? And the evening family specials and the positive TV shows weren’t only Hallmark specials. We even had positive cartoons like Fat Albert, Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake. These things were used to inspire positivity in the community. Even the ads like the Coca-Cola commercial, “I’d like to teach the world to sing…” used art to inspire positive change. The Black media served the same purpose. Fame, Soul Train. We don’t see any of those things today and that was BET’s original place. It was to inspire positivity and highlight excellence. That’s why we’re disappointed. Where’s the enlightening and empowering art?

I'm from the Teen Summit era. Once it ended, I stopped watching. It's not hard to figure out the agenda that has been and still being pushed. Sexxy Red is a flight of steps down all by herself. I am sick of the ratchet era. You can look at the lack of talent that is being featured and see that positivity is not being marketed and no one cares. It's classless and off-putting. I don't particularly appreciate watching other award shows, but it is what we have to watch to see people having class and reverence. I want to see my people stepping out looking suave, dapper, and gorgeous in an orderly respectable fashion... not slutty, ghetto, misguided, untalented, and all over the place. It's time to stop being aware of participating in the demise of our culture for a couple of bucks.

@@naebonniewell, hold up. You had your ratchetness back then. Lil Lom talked about eating the kitty and all that as well. foxy Brown, too. But I say this to people who didn’t live that era. What I mean by live is, sure, if you were 13-15 years old, you grew up with it, but you were still in high school. To actually live it, you have to see it out and about like in the clubs, at jobs, etc. I was 21 in ‘93. The shift with our culture started in ‘88 with NWA, and progressed through the 90’s. The majority of our culture was shifting to popularize being hood, being ghetto, wing a thug, or being a hoodrat. Being like that became “profitable” to the whites, and “real” to the blacks. Now think about this. Knowing it started then, these woman had children in the 90’s, and were single mothers. How old are those kids NOW? They are 34 years old and below. So, those little girls were raised by the 90’s hoodrat listening to “my neck, my back lick my P and my crack”, and “put it in my mouth”, and so on and so on. They were listening to Freddie Jackson around the house in quite sure. The home is the first teacher. You see it now; the product of the 90’s. Look at the type of men they want. I became a lawyer in 1995., right before turning 23. I’ve never been with a white woman, and I had a high paying job. Sistas were clocking for me. And, not because of my looks either. I was a pretty boy to them because I was 6’3” 210-215, light skinned and green eyes (natural and I hated them). I didn’t drink or smoke (I’m 52 now and still don’t), no kids, and had my job at the firm. But, because I was rolling in the car rocking Poor Righteous Teachers instead of Death Row music, I was “corny”. You had theD boys giving girls that fast money. Well, listen now. Girls want a “6 figure” dude, and pay for this and pay for that. Fly them out. Who taught them that? Those hoodrat 90’s single mothers. Truly think about about those times, and you’re see the foundation was laid for what we see now

You guys make a good point with this maybe all the mainstream platform should get together and create a petition to not support that kind of behavior in our community so that our kids won't be influenced by the big media that pays our people to promote these kind of things?

Selling sex has always been a thing. But on the other hand, it’s just not my cup of tea. I liked Glorilla and Meg, but Sexy Red was unintentionally funny, she did what she had to do. Maybe, I’m old fashioned but she didn’t provide of substance. Background singers and dancers were just a tad or two too out of step. Maybe it’s just me. 😂
