Rede Terra do Meio is a pioneering community-based network and a sustainable business ethical trade platform located in the Eastern Amazon, Brazil. It advocates for the protection of the Amazon rainforest and its local peoples - riverine dwellers (beiradeiros), indigenous communities and small family farmers.
Rede Terra do Meio is located within an 8.5-million-hectare tropical forest conservation mosaic in the mid-southern State of Pará, amidst one of the most highly contested and threatened Amazonian frontiers. Beiradeiros, indigenous peoples, and small farmers within eight protected
areas and adjacent territories, and their 14 associations, directly participate by selling their products (such as Brazil-nuts, natural rubber; Babaçu, Copaiba, and Andiroba extracts, handicrafts, among others) through the network - benefiting almost 3,000 forest producers
and more than 600 families.
