Comfast WiFi Extender Setup

2.4 G unit (not the dualband unit).
Summary of Steps:
1.) Plug device into wall (no need to connect Ethernet cable).
2.) Open up browser and go to 192.168.10.1
3.) Log-in with user: "admin", password: "admin"
4.) Click on "Repeater"
5.) Select Wi-Fi signal you want to extend
6.) Repeater can be named anything, pre-shared key must be changed to the password of the original router

Following the instructions the extender the Comfast came with would set up unsecurely and would not find the IP. Following this video, worked perfect. Bravo!! 2.4 G and 5 G securely installed. Thanks.

Thanks! Much easier to understand than the instruction manual that came with the device. Mine is the Elegiant WiFi Range Extender. The manual says to click on "router mode" but you were correct in selecting "repeater" instead.

Thank you! I was getting so frustrated cause I changed my wifi password and couldn't get my extender to pair up, so my smart lock and ring camera stopped working. I was getting so frustrated but this video helped. (It works to use a laptop instead of trying to connect it on a phone.)

All good. But...Doesn't this create a 'new' WiFi zone ( called 'extender' in this case) that has to be logged into by any device that wants to use it? Walking from room to room, next to the new Comfast unit, doesn't automatically go to the newly extended area? That's fine if you have static devices ( TV, BlueRay Game console etc) in the extended room, but mobile devices ( tablets, phones etc) don't seem to go to the strongest signal unless they are logged in to the new Comfast.

I think you need to reset your extender and repeat the whole process to be able to access the ip address

Yeap, in repeater mode if you will connect this device to your PC using LAN cable then your PC will get IP from DHCP, and your PC will have full access to internet. So this device can be used as WIFI to LAN converter for instance. Of course other devices can also connect to this device via WiFi to access internet at the same time.

I set mine up in repeater mode according to your instructions and can connect to the internet via wi-fi great--4 bars. But for some reason, the Comfast changes the name of my network from NETWORK to NETWORK2. Because of this, I cannot find and play video files on my server as everything is on the NETWORK network. What can I do to prevent this name change?

bosssho I have been able to save the problem. Actually you need to set your repeater somewhere you are having wifi signal so that it can capture the signal and repeat it. Mine was too far from the original wifi

I changed the SSID to the same name as my primary router (password the same of course) so all my wi fi camers would just log on to it..But was this a mistake? I can not verify they are connecting to this..and I suspect not as signal still soso..

BTW. I recommend to upgrade firmware to latest one. For all who are looking for latest firmware for CF-WR302S you can download it from: en.comfast.com.cn/download/FirmwareUpgrade/ Just search for "CF-WR302S". Also keep in mind that CF-WR302SV2_x.x.x firmware is dedicated to CF-WR302S V2 devices, which is not compatible with CF-WR302S, do please do not make mistake. Actually latest one for CF-WR302S is v2.0.1 dated 2017-07-12 [Build Time Tue, 27 Jun 2017 17:52:33 +0800] (it is newer than 2.0.0.1)

Make sure the extender password is the same as your router. Is your computer finding the extender unit at its IP?

This is repeater settings NOT EXTENDER. If you end up with having to connect to another wifi network that REPEATS a signal instead of extending it you won't be able to access you Googe Assistant, Crome, NAT servers og media centers on your main wifi. Because YOU are on a DIFFRENT SEPERATE WFI! So this product is utterly useless! :(
