Comfrey: A Permaculture Staple // Pros and Cons PLUS Collecting Root Fragments for Planting

Looks like we share a love for comfrey. It's a fantastic plant. I use it as a substitution for manure when I make compost and, it's never let me down. I've been moving entire plants around but, I think I'm going to try your advice to see if I can get more than one at a time. Nice, Gordon. Thanks.

It works really well spreading them by root fragments. These plants are 2 years old so they have limited amount of side roots for propogation.

Yes, Comfrey is also good for making liquid fertiliser, just soak it in water. The water will turn brown, and it is diluted by 10 parts water to one part Comfree. Thanks.

Thank you! I have seen some people would try to aerate that mixture in a large trash can or something similar. I may need to try something like this for some of my gardens that are without a nearby water source.

Comfrey has some medicinal benefits that I've been able to use in the last few days, namely as a topical for sore muscles, joints, rashes, and the like. Definitely something I'll keep around

Smothering it and regularly chopping off growth is really the only way to get rid of it. Is it getting too large?
