New sword day is better than Christmas, your katana cuts left some superb statics, great job!, also, it seems to be a new tradition to cut the box the sword came in😁

I always wonder what the engravings and Kanji mean. Cool swords!

You can search "The Last Samurai - preparing for the last battle" to see the origin of those characters (今古有神奉志士). It's the engraving on Tom Cruise's sword that was made for him before the final battle. Of course it seems to be some Hollywoodian concoction since there's no way those characters say "I belong to the warrior in who the old ways have joined the new". They were probably shooting for that, but there's no belonging or warrior in there, and the grammar seems to be more akin to Chinese than Japanese. Also the sword he got does not seem to be a replica of the sword from the movie, just the engraving is the same.

1. Get a scissors or knife to open the box easily. 2. Learn to hold/handle that weapon properly. That was not a toy. 3. NEVER EVER run your finger on the sharp edge. You could get easily. 4. Learn more knowledge about katana. Respect the weapon.

Ok so you got me on the scissors haha but I have handled swords, blades, and various other sharp weapons my entire life, as far as proper handling I handle my weapons like an extension of myself and have done so for about 20 years. I know what I'm doing, but thanks for the advice.
