your friend had the right idea about following creators rather than characters early on. that Punisher mini series was a gamechanger for me as a kid. Dragonforce!! great Dale Keown art in there. crazy X-Men run, just amazing.

Right?!? I wasn’t nearly as focused at the time. Such a cool way to collect.

What a blast from the past! Seeing these comics by the original owner preserved for so long in those bins was nice. Thank you for the walkthrough and narration. I appreciate the commentary which helped cement their importance.

Some good Byrne stuff in there. A couple of those odd ones were Byrne covers only -no interiors- so must have been a pretty big fan of his artwork. Byrne was so big at one time that almost anything he did was noted in Overstreet. I used to try and collect all of his stuff when I was collecting as a kid.

I definitely had my eyes opened to more of his work through this. Had never heard of some of those books before.

@@northgardencomics When you started off with those Capt America issues, I was wondering what was up as those were the exact ones that I picked up and only those ones (from that era). It looks like your friend started collecting a couple years after I got out of it as some of those looked like they were about $2-3 or something like that (instead of cover price). I didn't know about a couple of those later issues of Iron Fist.

What a nice collection. Like your friend, I liked focusing on artists and piecing together runs, more than getting fixated on just the “keys” John Byrne was one of my favorites too, I even have his “How To Draw Comics” comic 😊

Nice collection 👍 Everyone I knew however had the flaps in the back for the bags and we definitely taped them. At first all we could afford were bags and later when we got jobs we got the cardboard 😂 and keys were regulated to first issues, 100th anniversary issues and last issues 😂😂😂Little did we know that some of us were LOADED with future keys 🥳

Loved the Uncanny run. My run starts at 199 or 200. I've appreciated that Marvel has been reprinting facsimiles of early Uncanny books. Thanks for sharing!

Man! It's really too bad ALL THOSE X-MEN books blew out of the car on the way home and you saw them get picked up by that gang of leprechauns! 🤣 What an awesome experience!! It's great to see books that are still with the original owner. Just blows my mind that so many kids had better foresight at 9, 10, etc, than I do at my current age lol. Just wish wish wish I had held on to my books, but had "Better" things to do I guess. Great stuff, Chris! Glad you got to experience it!

I felt the same way. There’s something special about seeing books with their original owner still stored the same way for decades. I’m so glad to be along for the ride. My friend is such a pure lover of the story and art too. He watched the video and texted me about some of the issues saying I should read them because they are so good.

@@northgardencomics that's awesome! Always fun to see collecting overrule investing. At least to some extent. I'd hate to see an af 15 get ruined but still! Glad you're getting to experience it!
