Same here; i feel the font is being unjustly attacked for the shortcomings of its users. I mean, there are places where Comic Sans is clearly inappropriate, such as the aforementioned business scenarios, but for personal things, or for stuff aimed at children, it's totally fine.

I don't have dyslexia, but I've always had a fondness for Comic Sans when in a casual format or setting. For instance, back when AOL chat rooms were a thing, that was the font I used habitually (in bold faced, blue). And yes, I'm that old.

I once made flyers for a cirkus. After going through a bunch of different fonts we settled on comic sans. It was actually the best font for that business. It was childish, friendly and silly, but not unreadable or too unprofessional. However I wouldn’t use it for other types of businesses.

The only thing I dislike with comic sans is I think its ugly. I've always thought it was ugly, I was made to use it in my STF, I thought Times New roman was nicer looking. I've never noticed weather it helped me read, although that might be beacuse my dislexia is more a problem of comprehension not reading.

As someone who has dyslexia, I can agree that’s much easier to read it. And I still prefer it, that being said the miss usage is not the issue of the font but rather of the people miss understanding it. More fonts should be like it. But one of none pleasant fonts to read is Ariel, it’s just something about it that makes it look ugly.

I am dyslexic (though I've mostly overcome the difficulties I had in childhood, it's not something you ever get "cured" of). I have never noticed Comic Sans being any easier to read than any other font but neither do I particularly understand why most people seem to hate it so. It seems like just a perfectly ordinary, serviceable font, slightly on the childish side. Also, I was always taught the figure "1 in 25" (4%) growing up, for the prevalence of dyslexia, though it is possible my information is out of date.

Comic Sans is not the problem. Go find any good design made by a professional that uses a casual font, a sign or anything you want, something that could potentially fit Comic Sans, then change whatever font they used to comic sans. It won't look bad it context, at all. Now do the opposite, take any awful amateur-made sign and change the comic sans to something reasonable, it'll still look awful. If you send emails with an 18 point typeface, double spacing, colored green over a pink background, and you have a stupid gif animation as your signature, nothing could save that, not even Myriad. Now, Times new Roman, that is an actually evil font. Awful, unreadable, and absolutely widespread. That is a font that needs to go, because the problem is the font itself. Comic Sans? Nothing wrong with the font, it's just it's too widespread and generally used to people who don't know better. It's like hating french fries because shitty french fries are found in pretty much every fast food restaurant. There's nothing wrong with french fries, take a fresh potato, don't peel it, cut thick sticks out of it, and fry it in super hot vegetable oil, and you'll get some incredible fries. Pair them with a nice steak, and you'll love them. Go to McDonalds, and the shitty frozen fries are the least of your problems.

There was an image that did the rounds on Twitter some time ago where someone responded to a passive aggressive note in the office written in comic sans by saying “Please don’t write in comic sans. We’re a Fortune 500 company, not a lemonade stand.” Which is all very well, but the reverse is also true: you wouldn’t make a sign for a lemonade stand or a kid’s birthday party in times new roman. It’s bizarre and probably a sign of the depressing times we live in that business appropriateness is held as the objective measure of a font’s quality.
