I'm a girl who reads comics! We do exist! I buy my comics in tpb form or online though so you probably won't see me in a comics store. I like Batman and Superman fine, no real preference between the two. The other members of their fams are more interesting imo (Red Hood, Red Robin, Robin, Black Bat, Batgirl, Oracle, Lois Lane, Superboy, the Supergirls, and of course they both have a Nightwing and Flamebird). Batman and Superman are more interesting as friends than enemies. I'm more of a Flash fan overall tho. Especially The Flash Vol.2, The Flash: Rebirth, and Impulse. I have a bunch of fav non-flashfam runs too, like Green Arrow Vol.2, Superboy Vol.4, Nightwing Vol.2, and Young Justice Vol.1. I'm a big New Earth fan. The New 52 kinda messed up my favorite characters and I feel like I never got them back. Particularly Bart Allen and Kon-El, but pre-flashpoint and post-flashpoint Jason Todd are very different people. Anyways thanks for these videos! I've been listening while trying to make a detailed timeline of New Earth while accounting for the soft reboots, like Zero Hour and Infinite Crisis.

this isn't a dig at u it's just that i forget that dudes don't know how obnoxious it is to go into comic stores as a girl lol literally every time i go the guys behind the counter either a) quiz me about the backstories/trivia about whatever character's book i'm buying or b) analyze and critique my taste with each other like i'm not there lmfaoooo

just an observation. i bet it is obnoxious, and would understand the reservation of going in if that’s the sort of treatment one gets.

I really think, Superman is the costume, while, Bruce Wayne for example is the costume.
@afonsolucas22198 жыл бұрын
If that made sense...
@ASMRForNerds8 жыл бұрын
I disagree! Superman is in his natural state, an all powerful super being. His costume is Clark Kent. Bruce Wayne in his natural state is a rich human. Without his Batman costume, he has no weapons (other than his combat skills of course), and his costume is a big part of the element of fear he uses.
@afonsolucas22198 жыл бұрын
ASMR For Nerds I do get your point, but here's where I am coming from... Superman does feel a lot more relaxed in his Super persona, but I think there is a difference there, while he does feel confortable, he does feel disconected from humanity I think, and all he wants is to be close to them. Its like Spiderman, Peter usually is a nerd that hasn't much to prove, but in his Spidey outfit, he can let another part of his personality come Out. Like Supes. He can be a kind clumsy individual some time, then a great big huggable guy (kinda want hug Supes). So in the end, he really is Clark Kent everytime, he just has to look normal. About Batman... Well, no, Bruce Wayne died with his parents 20 years ago, from that point on it was only Batman, Cause Bruce doesn't really care anymore about that rich crap, only the Mission. But that was just my opinion. And I really loved to see your's, so cool to see that everyone has his own interpretation. :)

I think there's always been a small portion of women reading comics, I've been reading since I was a kid, but in all of these types of hobbies (gaming and such) we're the minority and that's perfectly fine, in general women don't like these things. I feel like more women are entering these hobbies these days for the art, like cosplay or drawing. Or they're feminists and they push Squirrel Girl on everyone even though she's a bad character.

I keep hearing arguments being made that Superman had a tougher start in life compared to Bruce. I strongly disagree. If we think about this critically, and remove any biases, it becomes incredibly obvious who has had the harder life. Using just bare bones logic and facts here, Clark’s whole existence is quite padded compared to Bruce’s. Yes, his planet and parents were tragically annihilated, but let’s actually think about that for a second. Clark was essentially just an infant at that time. He didn’t have time to form any strong connections or lasting bonds with his homeworld or his parents. He was a baby who is depicted as being blissfully oblivious the entire time & who suffered no massive emotional trauma from those events. Shortly after crash landing on earth, he was immediately taken in and cared for by two very loving and protective people who gave him a sincerely good childhood and a wholesome environment to grow up in. Most orphan kids could only dream of getting so lucky. Clark was hardly alienated as a child despite his alien DNA, his adoptive parents saw to it that he was raised as one of them, not as an outsider. He never knew much of anything but the love of his adoptive parents. In stark contrast, Bruce was significantly older & had already developed very strong emotional attachments and bonds with both his parents. They were his whole life. They didn’t pass peacefully from old age or natural causes, they were both slaughtered in cold blood in a dirty street, and it was horrifically violent. Talk about trauma! Even if we don’t like Bruce, we can’t deny the immense trauma that caused him. Clark suffered no such loss or emotional pain as he was greatly privileged to grow into adulthood with both his adoptive parents by his side! Why do Superman fans so frequently overlook this very crucial fact? It makes me legitimately sad to see no real value or emphasis ever being placed on what should obviously matter the most. CLARK HAS HIS PARENTS! A priceless gift most people take for granted. As adults, both Clark and Bruce have similar struggles with concealing their true identities, but again, Clark’s struggles do not outweigh Bruce’s. Bruce is just a mortal human who uses his pure grit, bone and muscle to be the savior of Gotham. Clark doesn’t have to fight to become who he is as he was endowed with his superpowers at birth. His struggle is in learning to control them and control himself. Bruce has no superpowers whatsoever and so relies on his intellect and technology to be Batman. What he does as savior of Gotham requires a good deal more effort to hide and keep under wraps because of the sheer amount of work, time, energy and resources he must devote into being Batman. Clark wakes up and is a superhuman being without even trying. Bruce can’t just wake up and take a bullet on his bare body. He can’t just go sailing up into the atmosphere at the drop of a hat to escape/evade his many many foes. He can’t do a lot of the things Superman can do. Superman has an overwhelming host of advantages over Batman and frankly it seems criminal in the comic book world not to adequately acknowledge this. Bruce is just a mere human with no special DNA but he faces mortal danger and certain destruction anyway. He doesn’t have any get-out-of-death-free cards to play and he knows it. That’s absolutely why people are so drawn to him. They can relate to and respect Bruce’s pure human courage and determination. They struggle to connect with Clark on the same level because he’s simply not as relatable in that regard. Batman’s struggles more closely resemble our own. None of us could ever be Superman, but some of us could be Bruce. In conclusion, to answer the argument of who’s stronger, I am of the opinion that Superman is unquestionably much stronger than Batman, and he would likely win in a fight against Bruce or any other humans. He has a multitude of raw advantages and very very few pitfalls.
