I have this dress pattern that I love & have made twice & I want to make it again, but changing the bodice but had no idea how I would do that. Then you showed me on this video! I do have a question though, the fabric I have isn't stretchy, does that mean it probably wouldn't work if I copied the way you did it? Thanks for sharing!

@ComicatCreations5 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I wonder - could you make a strip of fabric that you could attach to the back of the neckline from shoulder to shoulder that would help hold the shoulders up around you? I haven't done this myself but it might be a solution to be able to keep the neckline/shoulders in place, plus it would add a fun detail! I hope that helps some!

This top turned out so pretty. I love it! And watch out for those pesky leaves.....they jump on your head from all angles, teehee. It's well and truly Autumn here in Northern Ireland. We got our first frost last night and hit 0 degrees C so, to steal a line from Game of Thrones.....Winter is coming.....heehee. Great tutorial, as always. Lee :)
@ComicatCreations6 жыл бұрын
HAHAHA! Yes, I had NO idea it was a leaf, I thought it was a giant bug or something LOL! :) Oh my goodness you sure are getting cold weather there, I bet it's even colder now since when you left the comment... stay warm! Do you have a lot of beautiful fall foliage there? Our leaves haven't changed a whole lot and a lot of them have fallen due to wind from tropical storms that came through so it's pretty bland here. We're finally getting fall weather though, but I'd gladly exchange it for summer weather lol! Thanks so much for watching and enjoy the season! :)

Thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoy them! 😃 I really don’t enjoy sewing with patterns at all and I know there are a lot of people who have a hard time with them as well so I like to make my own tutorials that someone can follow just by using things they have in their house, rather than having them have to buy a specific pattern in order to make something, if that makes sense! 😃 Thanks for watching!!

First of all i love your tutorials. Second i just made this top CV and i dont have the flare on my peplum. I used stretch ponte. Can you tell me where i went wrong? Does the peplum suppost to be wider than the shirt or do they suppose to be the same size?
@ComicatCreations4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, I’m glad you enjoy them! Hmm I wonder, is the fabric you used more light and flowy? If it doesn’t have much structure it may just kind of hang rather than flaring out. The peplum and shirt were the same size on the ones I’ve made.
@janetrodgers84736 жыл бұрын
Well done, it's beautiful, your explanation is great. I personally would have bodice to waist, then peplum. I'm 4'10 size 8/10, as I'm short, it simply looks better, plus I need a slightly drapier fabric. You taller people get away with it! 🙂 I see in US and other Countries Petite is 5'4" and under! Where was I when this changed? Growing up it was always 5'2" and under. 2" is a lot for us Petites 😁... we count every eight of an inch! No, I jest. My height has never been an issue. My shortest boyfriend was 5'6". Husband a tad over 6'. In between, there weren't many, but they were all tall, which always made my Mum laugh! Me too. Nowadays, young people have such phobias about height, weight, etc. I was always told great goods come in small packages, so I was oblivious that I was short. I wish it were the same for young ones now, with all this body conscience nonsense and mimicking so-called Celebrities, it's really tough on them. That's where sewing helps. You can make what you like and it fits....
@ComicatCreations6 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, I'm glad you liked the top! Yes, I love the peplum tops with the bodices that are longer but I can never seem to pull them off myself LOL! They always look great on petite frames :) Haha wow you have quite the height difference between you and your hubby!!! I always think it's cute when I see couples that are a super tall guy with a petite girl! I'm glad that you didn't have any issues with self-conscience because you are so right, these days it is SO extreme! On social media everyone's either too short, too tall, too heavy, too skinny... nobody is left alone! Luckily I was a teenager right before Facebook and social media really exploded so any issues I had with being self conscience over anything wasn't magnified by everything I'd see online... But now kids never escape it. They're always online or on social media, they're even more susceptible to bullying, and the only things they usually see of what they're "supposed" to look like is fake, photoshopped, or a result of plastic surgery! It's horrible! Hopefully one day we'll see a world where all sizes, shapes, heights, colors, etc. will be accepted but I think we'll always have those ignorant people who will find something to pick on. But I guess until then, we all just gotta stick together and be kind to one another :)

@ComicatCreations5 жыл бұрын
For most things when sewing you do have to add a half inch to get seam allowance, but when you’re doing the calculations for a circle or half circle skirt (or peplum in this case) you have to subtract for just that one step because of the way we calculate and draw out the waist! 😃

Where did u get 3.14 from?
@ComicatCreations5 жыл бұрын
3.14 (which is Pi) is the number/formula you have to use to be able to draw a half circle, which is what this peplum top uses to get the flared peplum part 😃
