Batman is also an over powered hero. Granted he doesn't have powers per say but with him being the only living person to be able to see Deadman and sence thing no other mortal has as well as dodging the Omaga beams at one point along with perfect memory ( when not mind wiped ) all the physical skills he has learned over the years and when writers remember he can do so the ability to solve a case with one look at a crime scene he's pretty OP. And that's before any " with prep time " arguments though personally I always found that to be over played. Oh one more thing Batman did find a way to beat Wounder Woman basically it was to keep her distracted indefinitely.

One of the best versions of Aquaman is the jolly braggard from Batman: The Brave and the Bold. They have a lot of fun with his powers in that series. Aquaman and The Atom standing around in the rainforest being tiny. Atom: "We need transportation!" Aquaman whistles. Two silverfish appear. Atom: "How did you do that? Those aren't fish!" Aquaman: "Son, if it has fish in its name, it IS a fish!" I love that guy. :D

I remember the early Post-Crisis Superman series had Lex Luthor avoid arrest every time he did something to try and kill Superman plus he had a Kryptonite signet ring that kept Superman from getting too close to him physically. Later it was decided that having Lex Luthor avoid punishment was making Superman look bad so they broke the stalemate but for years Lex was pretty much getting away with doing whatever he wanted.

I hate this misconception that just because dc in overall have stronger heroes they are less interesting, people havent even read their stories and already decide they dont like them. even in marvel some characters like hulk, thor and dr strange perform incredible feats and nobody knows or complain about them or anything. Its comic books, its suposed to be fiction and sometimes ridiculous, even your most grounded heroes like spiderman or batman has done things that defy all logic, the guy doesnt sleeps or eats or go to the bathroom. dont mean to start a fanboy war but people take the feats out of context always and judge without even reading the stories.

S2116518M1141scool You do have a point. There are plenty of good, compelling stories of DC Heroes. However there has been a lot of bad ones over the years, some to many being popular with fans. Which could be the reason why many think DC is just a cast of OP characters with little humanity in them. A great example of that is all of the live action Superman films, Superman acts like the only thing he cares about is Lois Lane.

BATMAN is the center of the DC-UNIVERSE, He can never die, they can't even keep him retired, (whatever his age is?) who can retire in his late twenty's, It been a long time since DC- wrote any story where Bruce Wayne just goes to work to collect his amount worth of money ? He never goes broke, the JL watch tower is his, the secret base on the moon is his, he's got a few other hidden Bat-Caves hidden around Gotham, few offices in other city" (Powerless) maybe he still has his satellite in space or the BROTHER EYE station, "love to see that pay-check, if it's monthly or weekly.

You did read the limited series where Batman was place in the past and some how made it back to the present ? Everybody thought he was killed by Darkseid , well it wasn't him, wasn't him in Blackest Night? Bane broke his back , Azrael took the mantel "temporary" New52 countdown series We thought Batman Wonder Woman & Superman retired ,to give the other heroes a chance to shine, (some how all these stories were erased, Even when Grayson took the Mantel because Batman went missing ,remember the Titans became the New Justice League "Erased" New52 Gordon took the mantel as Batman when again Batman went missing? all that was Erased from the DC-history "Rebirth" It still a BatMan universe, you have to wonder what is it they DC-writers want to keep in the Batman history ?????

Haha. How many times did he say, "they can pretty much do anything!" I still like DC, don't get me wrong, but I think everyone being so overpowered is more of a hundrance than it is interesting. It reduces the ways the heros can be defeated, so it's harder to write stories. I'm not saying DC is bad, so take a breath. They have some really good stories. I'm just saying having 1 or 2 weaknesses makes it more difficult to write challenges for the heros. However, DC has done a pretty good job at working around it most of the time

DC Heroes aren't as "OP" as most people make out. You pointed out most of their human flaws,a nd frankly, _That's_ their greatest weaknesses: their core humanity. Clark is a farm boy who loves helping people; Bruce is a pained kid who never wants anyone else to go through what he did; Diana is an immortal, peace loving woman in a man-made world of more fragile beings; Jonn Jones is a man who can feel the pain of others, but can't fix the world and will never really be apart of it; Wally is a kid living up to the name his kick ass predecessor set before him; Hal is a cocksure sometimes jerk who deep down wants to do the right thing whenever possible. Marvel figures maybe more complex, but I think the simple humanity of DC characters is what resonates more. Ironically, as our times have gotten more cynical and "gratify me now!", it's that very humanity which makes many people see them as "boring" and old fashioned.

I loved the Brave the Bold version of Aquaman. I realize he was written as "silly" but his attitude reminded me of Marvel's Hercules and he was just cool. I no longer associate him with "lame" because of this version of the character. B&B Aquaman was way more fun, likable, and cool than any of the gritty versions of him.

Two problems I have with comics and rankings stuff: 1. Even though Green Lanterns are supposed to be so powerful they never do anything useful 2. In a lot of the versions of the DCU Supergirl is more powerful than Superman. And I get that you wanted to use the original but, I just wanted to put that out there.

No origin story no background but just appeared out of no where. Even that, he leaves the DC Universe and goes to vertigo comics while his daughter is the god of the DCUniverse. Meanwhile dr manhattan has an origin story. Has a background. Was created by an experiment machine. The powers was given. He is too just a puppet. He can't do everything. He even said it. @@Xenabuffyfan Wonder Woman's origin is incredibly convoluted, to the point that most people aren't sure which one is canon. Sometimes she's a clay statue given life by Zeus and doesn't have any other relation to him, but sometimes her mother straight up screwed the God in order to have her. Sometimes Diana left the island during a World War (Never certain which one) and sometimes she left recently, at the same time Batman and Superman first started. Sometimes her powers are derived from her divine origin, other times they are gifts from the Gods to protect her. Since the origin provided by the movie is by far the most popular, it's probably safest to stick with that, especially since I'm pretty sure it lines up with her New 52 origin pretty well.

Great vid, though on the topic of Lanterns, I would have mentioned that the Green Lanterns can get a power boost from Blue Lanterns, and the whole White Lantern corp since it's the one tied to the Life entity. I've always wished that J'onn J'onzz had gotten more attention, I did love him in the Justice League TV show, my gateway drug into DC and comics.

Batman is still challenged by what he's faced with, he loses, is often brought to the brink of death, and needs help at times. Its no different from people who say the same about Superman while never have held a superman comic.

Weaker villains can't come up with crazy plans to take over earth or the unvirse like (Thonos) A person like thanos could just snapped his fingers and wiped out most of the living beings on earth and the solo system. Good guys with crazy powers is not appealing to me, example, Sentry! Sentry is a dope character but he always fighting the void.

irrevenant3 Thats the thing though, a lot of these characters dont face villians like that on the average. Most of the time, Supes is facing villains like Lex. Flash is facing Captain Cold or Gorilla Grodd. Even though im a Flash fan, just knowing what he and many comic heroes can do, putting them against the traditional planner type of villains gets rather...stupid in my opinion. The only non superpowered human villain that i feel legitimately is a challenge for any level of superhero is DrDoom. Although a Marvel villain, he has proven time and time again that he has the means to conquer any foe regardless of their powerset, and its been consistently displayed. This is due to the fact that he is ALWAYS armored, he has vast mystical knowledge on par with the best of comic book magic users, he is as genius in the fields of tech as the superheroes who make super suits, and a master tactician. That type of villain would be a serious threat no matter what universe you put him in; whether it be Marvel, Dc, or even any action oriented anime. The problem i have with a lot of the Dc rogues are that they arent believable threats to the heroes they face due to the fact that they usually have a gimmick that heroes of these caliber should be able to overpower with no effort at all. Toyman, Lex Luthor, The Trickster, Cheetah, Captain Cold, Gorilla Grodd, and so many others, should NEVER pose a threat to the heroes they typically face. Its perfectly understandable why Batman is more popular and respected than them; he is the complete opposite. He routinely is put in situations in which could be his last. Most all of his foes can kill him if he makes any minor human error.

To me, the only time a character's power level is an issue is when you get bad writers who don't know how to handle characters like this. A writer of sufficient skill will find ways to challenge Superman (aside from pulling out Kryptonite) in ways that make great stories. Same goes with any character with great powers. It's all in the skill of the writer at the time.

This list as a whole is one of the biggest reasons why I don't really care for DC heroes. Like, DC stuff can be fun, and I generally love DC's villains. But DC's heroes are just.. boring to me personally.

Manhunter isn't actually addicted to Choco's. The comic where he goes on a withdrawal induced rampage was, at the end, revealed to be a story he was telling Kyle Rayner about, as a lecture about how people can be addicted to anything, and how the addiction is the problem, not what you're addicted to. Wonder Woman comes in and says she doesn't remember that ever happening, and he admits to her he made the story up as a teaching tool.

There's a difference between being addicted and enjoying something. The comics continued to reference Martians connection to Choco's because the addiction story became so iconic and popular, but have they ever shown him hulking out when his supply runs low since? And as for Aquaman's flight, maybe if you didn't use a panel that's clearly depicting swimming to illustrate that ability, maybe your audience wouldn't assume you research your subject matter about as thoroughly as a Buzzfeed level top 10-er.
