I liked Plastic Man so much that in 1968 or 69, DC was doing a create a character contest. Well, I couldn't come up with just one, so I submitted a team. My favorite DC comic, as yes, I kept turning more to Marvel, was Legion of Super Heroes. One of the more consistent storylines was admitting new members. In fact, they even had The Substitute Legion. One of the big things about admittance was that you had to be a teenager. So I submitted an idea about what if a bunch of powerful, well qualified heroes showed up, but they were all in their mid-20s? Well, what if after being rejected, they decided to stick together and reform an old Super Team idea, 'The Justice League of the UP!' Questar a police officer from Roxxon where the Kandorian Kryptonian's settled. A Kryptonian father and Daxxamite mother, making him a Superman but without weakness to Kyrptonite or Lead Deanna, the Wonder Woman of the 30th century. Professor Manplastic, horrible name I know, I figured they could fix that. He rediscovers the right combination of chemicals that created Plastic Man, and further enhances it with Gingold that created Elongated Man. This makes him even more powerful than both, plus, he can change colors making him even more invaluable as a spy. Man Hawk, another bad name, a rare Thanagarian policeman who earned the winged helmet! But he was also a throwback! He grew natural wings at will, with his hands and feet morphing into razor sharp talons. They weren't as strong as Wolverines would be years later as who could forsee him. Emerald, a green skinned blonde haired woman who inherited an unusual weapon, the Wand of the Protector. This wand, was actually a test weapon from the Guardians of the Universe. It could do everything a later power ring could do, without the weakness to yellow or the Alan Scott weakness to wood. Unfortunately, it only had about half the power of a Green Lantern ring, which they perfected soon after. Realizing that though it would be difficult, the wand could be taken from her, Emerald absorbed the power into herself. She kept the unbreakable wand as an escrema baton. No, I hadn't heard about those and was thinking police baton. Naturally I didn't win, and only received offers to subscribe which I couldn't do because I was a poor kid. Plus DC practically stopped putting out Legion stories and what money I could make for comics continued to go more for Marvel. I later revived new versions of Questar, Man Hawk, and Emerald in high school writing. Emerald basically stayed the same, Questar became a Mutant with radically different powers, Man Hawk became El Condor, same powers but now he dressed flamboyantly, and did Lucha Libre style aerial fighting! They never went anywhere either. I made one half hearted attempt to get into comics in 1989, that company was a bunch of hacks and went out of business before I could sign. Black and White Boom of the late 1980s.

There was a new Plastic Man miniseries by Gail Simone that was pretty good, but it was lacking in one major regard. No Woozy Winks. I'm of the mind that you just can't do Plastic Man without his buddy Woozy, one the greatest and most useless sidekicks ever.
@bsabruzzo4 жыл бұрын
Wow, they really mixed together all three of his origins in this. They took away the monk that saved Eel and helped him recover in a monastery. They used the Asylum version of Woozy Wink instead of the night watchman who got trapped in a closet with a wounded Plastic Man, who was giving off poisonous fumes which lowered Wink's IQ and making Plastic Man feel he owed Woozy.

Nope, it's either Bill Hader or I won't take it. Don't get me wrong, Jim Carrey is a good actor in his own right, but so is Bill Hader, and I think Hader would do a better job at portraying Plastic Man given how well he could pull off the reformed gangster thing going on. If Hader can play a seriously conflicted hitman in a critically acclaimed dark comedy like HBO's Barry(which he also wrote, thank you very much), then he sure can do well as a reformed gangster turned superhero. Trust me, we would do well with Hader in the role..

Plastic Man's dialogues between him and any combatants of any future installment of this franchise would be absolutely untouchable and godlike,in regards to the witty quips he'd toss in the directions of his opponents decimating any and all pride they may possess. He'd roast EVERYONE and they momma! No one on the roster would be safe from his remorseless banter, especially if he doesn't like said person getting verbally toasted. And that's not even mentioning how badass his move set would be considering the powers he contains. Continuing to leave this DC OG out of the videogames is a huge INJUSTICE❕❗❕ And I'm sure any and all comic book readers would agree,especially if they're life long readers of the classic DC issues. If Atom had a chance to make it in than y the hell can't he🤦🏾♂️ Not to mention the fact that he's such a relatable, loveable,and an all around down to earth character. Those are the kinds of characters we should see more in the forefront of projects than most honestly. #plasticman4injustice3🤞🏾 #pleasemakeithappennrs🙏🏾
