Also, I loved how this movie made the gods feel like characters out of myths and not reverent beings. It really made them feel possible. I don't know how much I'm reading into this in relation to Taika's Reservation Dogs, but New Asgard reminded me of the commercialization of one's culture to survive. He wrote that, HE came up with "let's bring her for one scene, chop her arm off and do nothing else." My best guess (though really it shouldn't be up to the audience to have to come up with plothole solving theories) is that sharing his powers like this is a last resort thing, since it all comes from the same source. Every time he shares his powers, it dilutes the strength of them. So spreading his powers to many different people at once is something he really should only do when the people have no other way of defending themselves in an unavoidable battle, like with the kids. The Humour, whilst I love the humour Waititi brings...my main issue is the fact that every character has the same sense of humour which I don't like. 2- Jane- I love the arc in the comics, but having lost someone to cancer im quite honestly sick of Hollywood using it in the way its done here, gaunt cheeks and a bit of eyeshadow to make someone look slighltly sick is infuriating. If your going to do the storyline then a) dedicate a whole film to it and not mash it in with Gorr and b) fucking go for it, it would be such a stark contrast to the levity and fantasy elements to see a realistic portrayal of what she's going through.
@BBmetalhead042 жыл бұрын
It is unfortunate this might be the last time we see Jan Foster Thor, but I actually appreciated that they didn't cure Jane of her cancer with a wish. I think there's something powerful about someone going through a terminal illness and choosing to continue to fight, even though nothing will change their fate. For me, having the cancer magically go away might've undermined that message. However, I think there is a way they could've still been able to use Mighty Thor in future projects. Instead of dying immediately, Thor and Jane raise Gorr's daughter together and spending what time they have left together. In dire situations, Jane can still become Thor and have her death be in the next major event movie like "Secret Wars". Basically, my idea is the death of Burai/Dragon Ranger from Zyuranger (or how Tommy initially lost the Green Ranger powers in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers).
@bZman2 жыл бұрын
I did not like the movie very much. The Eternity wish deus ex machina makes Gorr an idiot and his entire goal pointless. He has the ability to get any one wish granted and doesn’t think to use it to bring his daughter back until Thor tells him he could. It undermines a much better story from the comics. The comedy was also trying too hard this time when it felt so natural in Ragnarok. The goats screaming was funny the first time, but grew old quick for instance. The Jane Fonda joke or the Jodie Foster joke would have worked but doing it twice undercut the humorous chuckle I got from the first one. Jane and her catchphrases came across as trying too hard. I did love the rehabilitation of the Thor/Jane relationship though
@mutalemwananshiku40982 жыл бұрын
There is some forced comedy in ragnarok and sure they maybe some forced comedy in love and thunder but it has more heart and sincerity than raganrok ever had. With the catchphrases i mean jane became a superhero why wouldnt she try come up with a catchphrase?
@allendrake69602 жыл бұрын
I can kinda get the criticism of Gorr's motivations, but it also fits with a vengeful, selfish outlook instead of a level headed viewpoint that he woukd be far removed from. Being mocked by the God that he and his people were devout worshippers of would understandably lead to a hysterical response. He'd been on a path of killing gods for a long while, obsessive, presumably not learning about Eternity until pretty late in his massacre-ing. And by that point, he'd become convinced that his primary if not only purpose in life was to succeed in killing them all.

@DanV9002 жыл бұрын
@@kholsinger You don’t actually want to see those movies at that length with those bad scenes. The majority of blockbusters have 4 hour+ assembly cuts that are edited down by the way. An assembly cut is every shot put in chronological order. For example, Snyder’s assembly cut of Justice League was 5 hours long where an hour and a half was cut. He admitted the length of the assembly cut on Twitter when Scott Mendelson assumed the 214 minute run time was an assembly cut which is everything before the epilogue. Then he filmed the epilogue later. The assembly cut of Black Panther was 4 hours long which was confirmed. The BVS: Ultimate Edition is not an assembly cut. That’s how movies have been made for decades. The only assembly cut ever released is Alien 3 by David Fincher. There is a significant difference between assembly cuts with all the footage put together in chronological order and no edits compared to director’s cuts. Christopher Nolan famously doesn’t watch his assembly cuts and has his editors put them together and then he starts editing the movies down. The Batman’s first test screenings were 4 hours long which is rare before an hour was taken out. Far too many people don’t know the difference honestly. James Cameron has never put out an assembly cut and his special editions are just the deleted scenes released that are put back in the movie. People really need to educate themselves on the cuts of movies.

There were no themes in this movie. If they wanted Jane Foster and to make this a typical Watiti comedy, the antagonist should have been The Enchantress. Make it a kooky love triangle thing. That would have given them more opportunity to give Jane a personality, and more room for comedy. Leave Gorr for a writer/director who's actually interested in ideas > jokes.

I don’t understand why out of all the MCU movies, quite a few people are bending over backwards to defend this one. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the better movie where I don’t think it’s close. I would push back hard on Love and Thunder being well made especially with its $250 million production budget since so many background shots look bad which is a result of the Volume along with the story structure. The action is not memorable at all. My theater barely laughed on opening night where most of the jokes didn’t land. It’s just awkward when that happens too. The emotional beats didn’t land either. So many people say it’s fun and plenty of bad movies are fun where you turn your brain off. This movie struggles from never allowing itself to have a serious scene until the very end. Everything has to have a stupid, awkward, and usually unfunny joke. It really hurts the movie in my opinion

Marvel feel like they are going nowhere. I'm not sure how excited people are to be teased that Starfox, Pip the Troll and Hercules are coming? In the meantime we are expected to wait years for Dr Doom, Galactus, Ghost Rider, X-Men and Fantastic Four. The movies are also becoming less about the Marvel universe and more about being vehicles for the self indulgence of Hollywood actors. Be careful not to test people's patience Marvel.

Hercules should have been brought in earlier tbh. He’s one of the earliest Avengers.

This movie simply doesn’t work as a sequel to Endgame with Thor’s journey and all the retcons added in. Remember when Thor wanted Stormbreaker over Mjolnir because it was bigger in Endgame in the final battle? I guess Taika didn’t since he needed a running gag. Stormbreaker acting like that was a retcon and I found it incredibly dumb. The best Thor movie with his journey was Infinity War honestly.
@mutalemwananshiku40982 жыл бұрын
Thor bringing mjolnir from 2013 is already a problem cause he is depriving his younger self of mjolnir i getting summoning it to see if he is still worthy but why take it with him had thanos not attacked was he really just gonna keep a time displaced mjolnir. I thought the love triangle betwen the weapons amd didnt go overboard as it could have.
@DanV9002 жыл бұрын
@@mutalemwananshiku4098 He was never going to keep the hammer honestly and the plan was to always bring the stones back and the hammer had to be brought back too. You use both weapons to help in a battle which isn’t an issue. The love triangle was unbelievably stupid and made no sense since Thor already showed he preferred Stormbreaker and called Mjolnir “the little one” when he swaps weapons with Cap.
@mutalemwananshiku40982 жыл бұрын
@@DanV900 if he wasnt going to keep the hammer why take it back with him because he didnt know thanos from 2014 was going to attack. if he didnt care for mjolnir he wouldnt have bothered summoning it when he travelled to 2013 and came back with it. He likes stormbreaker but still misses mjolnir and i dont see him calling it 'the little one' i dont see as a dig because it is a small weapon and there were during a battle there wouldnt have been time for a rivalry between the weapons and again the rivalry didnt go as far as it could have gone.
@DanV9002 жыл бұрын
@@mutalemwananshiku4098 You bring it back just in case and he wanted to see if he was still worthy which helped with his confidence. That was the point where he literally says, “I’m still worthy.” Once he got Mjolnir, what was he supposed to do exactly? Run it back to the other Thor? He didn’t have Mjolnir for 5 years as of Endgame and still preferred to use Stormbreaker. Missing it is fine in Love and Thunder, but it was executed incredibly poorly and it was made into a joke with the rivalry. He literally poured beer on Stormbreaker.
@mutalemwananshiku40982 жыл бұрын
@@DanV900 well yeah give it back to 2013 thor because he still needs it in that time its kinda messed up he is willing to just take a mjolnir from a different time and deprive that version of his hammer. I mean it is kinda funny to have their being a rivalry between the two weapons since storm breaker is meant to be his new weapon and mjolnir is his 'ex-hammer' again it could have gone worse like say having mjolnir and stormbreaker literally fight or stormbreaker kicks thor in the nuts or someone. I do agree thor giving stormbreaker is dumb.

25% of it was good. You only needed Thor,Jane and Gorr. The rest was superfluous silliness. And Ragnarok was just as bad.

Nah, it was just a nice ending for Jane. Natalie Portman clearly has no regard for these types of films and is here for the paycheck. She's just spent a load of her money on a soccer club after all.

In canon Jane Foster becomes Valkyrie and receives the “All-Weapon” she can travel in and outside of Valhalla. I think she is not done with the MCU just yet.

I think Portman is done. She needed a big paycheck to pay for the soccer team she just bought and probably stipulated that she wouldn't be doing another.

I thought Thor was the most unnecessary part of the the movie. Gor makes a great villain for Jane. I couldn't care for Thor's arc.
