Thanks for watching Win or Die. It’s more of a last call premise. If you want it, get it now, because it’s up and going higher. There are a few issues that are a bit ahead of the curve, but letting collectors know to get a book before it completely prices itself out is the main goal. And let’s be honest, if people (youtubers, news sites, collecting apps) are already talking about a book, it’s too late to some regard.

Thanks for the feedback Dan! I agree that mid or low grade data points would be good to share as well, my only concern is keeping the length of the videos as tight as possible. For higher value books I particularly think that low/mid values would be beneficial. I will just have to weird that power conservatively for the sake of run time.

I paid $91 for my very nice raw copy of Sandman #8. I'm glad I was able to get it just a bit under FMV. Had my Demon #1 for a couple years now. Granted it's probably a 4.0, maybe 5.0 at best and I paid $40 so roughly FMV in my opinion.

Nice pickups! I’ve had my Sandman 8 for a while. The story makes me sad though. I bought it, a TTA57 and a WBN32 for $75 back in 2013(?). Flipped the 5.0-5.5 WBN32 for $50 to recoup most of my expense. The next 12 months saw that book explode from a bottom tier 1st appearance to the major key it is today. 😭😭😭

@@CoMoComicBooks I do wish I would have appreciated Vertigo material like I do now. But at least I have those keys. I've seen overviews of the first arc to help decide if the title was for me, and now I regret being late to the party haha. I need to get an omnibus as I collect the floppies so I can read it! There hasn’t been any updates on Silk in a while, which may indicate it’s a good time to pick it up. Out of sight, out of mind and all. If budget is not an issue, the 1:10 variant may be the way to go. If you’re able, 9.8 is the way to go when speculating or investing in modern comics.

Hey Clay! Thanks for watching! Definitely always a chance you could hit by picking up a few different 9.8s. The advantage with the She-Hulk is that we already have the confirmed Disney+ project to help drive demand to the book in the short term.

@@CoMoComicBooks Totally get that, there’s just so, so many She-Hulk 1’s in 9.8 out there, and we don’t have any way of knowing how just much she’ll stick yet. At $300 I was hesitant and skipped it. You’re more than welcome to disagree Pure. The focus of my channel is to help collectors identify books that are attainable. I can talk about golden age keys, silver age keys and the mega books from the 70s to current, but that is not going to provide any value to collectors who are not able to participate in that tier of the hobby. Is there a market for those videos, absolutely. I love golden age Batman and Timely books, but I’m trying to help a wider swath of collectors. Good luck with your channel.

Pretty good spec.. I just can't get on board with GI Joe. I get that the market reflects a mid life crisis nostalgia demographic.. But Joe was way too over the top for any live action adaptation. War and elite forces the way the books had it, becomes comedy on screen. If a trigger is pulled someone gets hurt.. GI Joe may have had a death once.
@CoMoComicBooks
@CoMoComicBooks 3 жыл бұрын
It was the 80s, so only robots could die (RIP Optimus Prime). Nostalgia is definitely strong with GI Joe and I think the love of the characters, despite the fact that they’re untethered from reality, is what drives the interest. Full disclosure: I still want a USS Flagg. I have no idea what I would do with the monstrosity, but I want one.

You’re doing better than me! I’ve bought nearly the entire Mirage Vol1 of TMNT, but missed the boat on Raphael for the time being. My gut tells me that it may be overplaying it’s hand right now, but TMNT is a unique property in that regard. $2k+ for high grade raw copies just makes me feel like it’s out over it’s skis, but I like the book overall. Additionally, I’m happy to see TMNT2 getting the love it deserves. I’m a big mouser fan though. I’m eyeballing Tales of the TMNT 4 & 6, along with TMNT Adventures #1 (which has already seen strong gains as well).

@CoMoComicBooks
@CoMoComicBooks 3 жыл бұрын
Depending on the volume of issues you have, ebay may be the best bet if you’re looking for the highest return. That is based off of the quantity being manageable enough that you don’t mind doing the leg work for each individual sale. If it’s a larger amount of books you will want to find a reputable store or vendor, possibly even a fellow collector to make you an offer for the lot. Obviously you will not maximize your return that way, but there is a tipping point where the work and the money balance out. If you have some true heavy hitters, I would recommend having them pressed/cleaned and then graded.

Love your channel and content, Drew! I have a question for you..Im interested in grabbing a primer # 2. I'm under the assumption that it's a very low print run. However, I was reading a post on an old comic forum and there was a discussion of a "warehouse" find on primer two issues. Have you heard of this? Thanks in advance!
@CoMoComicBooks
@CoMoComicBooks 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Patrick! I’m not aware of a warehouse find for Primer #2. With it being an independent publisher, and presumably, a lower print run book, I would find it surprising, but totally within the realm of possibility. Also of consideration is that warehouse finds can occasionally be kept quiet to keep the market from under-performing as the newly found high grade copies start coming into the market.

Good picks. I've been pretty good picking keys the past few years and I agree with most of these. I bought a ~4.0 Avengers #8 for $35 in 2017. I just wish I'd bought more of them lol.

Nice work Tom! I picked up a really solid mid-grade copy last summer and put the “I don’t want to sell it price” on it, anticipating that it would eventually see a big increase. And it has! Market price is now 3x of my I don’t want to sell it price from last fall. Keep up the good work. Thanks for watching and happy hunting!

Hey Kevin! Thanks for watching. I try to pick at least 1-2 books per list that are a bit off the beaten path. That way there is something fresh or unique for the community. Because let’s be honest, a lot of us are chasing or talking about many of the same books.

Hey Dustin! Thanks for watching! We don’t have a brick and mortar. I recently launched a website that has a limited amount of books available in the store, more to come there for sure. Our primary method of selling are the many local/area comic cons and shows. We were setup in St. Charles just this past weekend. For the last decade I ran Rock Bottom’s social media, but have turned that over to the new owner following James’ unexpected passing.

I was a huge TMNT fan when they came out, and I remember having every issue until about 1990/1991, a bunch of issues of Gizmo, all of the Turtles one-shots, and the two that I really miss, the compilation/anthology books “Turtle Soup” and “Grunts”. I loved everything Mirage back then, and even bought the Turtles RPG books (even though I didn’t play) and all of the expansions, and I kick myself for losing track of/selling so many awesome comics from back then. I collected Marvel and DC stuff as well, and a lot of independent books (Jeez, just remembered Boris the Bear by Nicotat Comics)- your channel, which I just stumbled across, has opened up a huge can of nostalgia for me! Probably obvious- I’m ranting here, sorry! Thanks so much for such a great channel- I’ve got to subscribe, no doubt! Stay safe and healthy, man-

Why is that Sandman series always more valuable than the original Jack Kirby Sandman, it never made sense to me? If it solely by pencils and ink quality , the list of comics can go on and on?

Hey Rhog! I ACTIVELY try to avoid MTG. I know the slightest little bit about it from my days working at my LCS, but the one thing I do know is that it’s a rabbit hole I don’t want to go down! Mainly for my bank account’s sake. My narrowly informed advice would be to buy the highest graded copies of The Power 9 you can afford. I’m sure that’s far from a revolutionary piece of advice though. Thank you for tuning in for the comic book content though!

A100 Thanks for watching, but I’m a comic vendor first. I buy collections all the time. I trust you’re just trying to help, but as a business, it’s not helpful to suggest to a seller that they go to another potential buyer. I’m happy to work with Donn and make him a competitive offer. If we make a deal, great! I would ask that you not direct people who’ve reached out to us to other parties. All due love and respect to Reggie and Gary though. They’re a couple of great content creators.
