All 4 in the main continuity have as you said "died" at some point. - Dick Grayson, died for a couple of minutes during Forever Evil and then was a agent of Spyral for a while. - Jason Todd, obviously by the Joker, back as Red Hood - Tim Drake, not dead, but gone from the world and everyone thinks he's dead. -Damian Wayne, killed by that Leviathan thing and brought back to life with Apokalips tech. However, I don't count Dick Grayson's death because because, while he was clinically dead for a while, so was my buddies uncle during heart surgery and I don't count that as dying and coming back to life.

Rob, you somehow missed Kane's superiors giving him the order to use Batman techniques in a military capacity. This was the genesis of the Colony. Kane, motivated by the loss of his family members (the flashbacks showed this as a motivation for Kate ultimately joining the military and her dad formulating the idea of her being his protege and one day leading a team designed by him) started corrupting the idea of the Colony (re: using Batman techniques to kill!). Then there was the conspiracy theory of the League of Shadows existing in Gotham which was the mission that Tim co-opted. The drones were suppose to take out these covert Shadow members (innocents be damned) and the only way to stop the drones were to give them a new target (since they wouldn't stop until the target was eliminated) so Tim decided that he alone should be that target.

@sath27497 жыл бұрын
I been watching your videos for some time and i want to say thanks. I have some thing i want to say that will lead to my question and i hope you read this and reply. I been into comics my whole life but when i was little i was too poor to afford them. when i was a teen and i got a job i started buying a lot of them. when i started reading batman regularly it was at the time Tim Drake was first introduced and though batman didn't want him to be robin he showed up as robin to save batman from scarecrow. I was never a huge batman or robin fan, but here was a new hero the same age as me and it kinda clicked. He became my favorite character. i felt like this was a character i could relate to. kinda intuitive, smart and nerdy. I then bought every robin comic book to come out cause of this. as years passed and i collected comics less, cause i had other expenses. I did not collect them but tried to keep up on the stories. Then the new 52 came out and i decided i will get back into collecting Robin again and found i could only find him in the new 52 teen titans. So i bought all the graphic novels. I liked the new outfit cause it separated him from the old and coming into his own like Nightwing, but they called him Red Robin and i was so pissed. Red Robin is a burger joint, and besides it was originally used as a mantel that Dick Greyson used. So why is he named Red Robin. Red Wing would have been better. Truly would like Night Hawk, but that is cause it is my name. (but that is unimportant.) Now i decided to give rebirth a look and see if i could get into it. I started reading Detective comics cause it was the only place Tim was but i am lost. I got no transition from new 52 to rebirth for him. He was with wonder girl, now he is with spoiler. (which is fine cause he was with her first), but i don't see any thing to follow. I mean Stephine makes fun of his old outfit, which was loads better then this one that basically makes him look like a step back to robin., and i still am unsure of what was or is still there from new 52. and then he got captured. I read a few more of the comics but no Red robin. So finally my question. do they ever find him? Is this a step to evolve Tim into a new identity? Cause I have no interest into getting into Detective comics if it is going to take a silly turn or if He is not going to be on the team. I don't like that clay face was added to the team and i guess i don't want this to be a mentoring thing. I mean Batman has enough comics. I would rather see Detective comics be about Tim and his partners, spoiler, orphan, and some one else that fits as a young detective style team making it on their own, not as side kicks.

What I love about DC in general, and the Bat-Family in specific, is how organically the cast has grown over the years and gelled. I wish Marvel could learn to do this rather than just keep trying to jam square pegs into round holes. The writers at DC just do soooo much of a better job writing the books. And the art is outstanding.

I felt Batwoman was very superfluous to the storyline and there were a couple of things that really annoyed me about her. 1. She knows Batman is Bruce Wayne because... COUSINS, I have a cousin I have known for my entire life, I was brought up with him, but there are still times when I can't tell what the hell he is thinking. Kate Kane has been around for maybe a couple of years at this point, but she somehow knows Bruce better than half of his inner circle? 2. Her being put in charge of the group because of her military experience when overall she is likely one of the least experienced members of the team baring Clayface. She could have worked just as well as a member of the second in command after Red Robin, doing things like putting them through drills. 3. She seems to follow the Gunny Hartman (from Full Metal Jacket) approach to leadership, break them down, regardless of what they bring to the table and make them what she wanted them to be. There was a point during their training when Stephanie is almost vomitting from exhaustion and she wants them to keep going. Red Robin underminds her in front of the others by overriding the training scenario and shutting it off, because it was the right thing to do, and she more or less gets away with it. 4. Finally, she brings in Daddy, who not 3 pages later goes on to betray the lot of them, something that, if she were half as good as the book is trying to suggest, she would have had some idea of all this, but nope. She knows who Batman is because COUSINS and she has not been around him all that long, but she doesn't know the person she is closest to is running a multi-billion dollar operation to copy Batman. So she will respect and keep quiet about something the government wants to keep secret, but the people she is working with.... pfft screw their privacy...
@JRGomez818 жыл бұрын
However, thanks in part to this video, I have come to understand that Batwoman isn't the main character of this story, she is the point of view character. Red Robin is the main character. He is the one with the personal crisis, he is the one with the trial to overcome and ultimately he is the one who gives his all. Batwoman is really more his foil here than anything else.

I always thought that Tim Drake was one of the least prominent Robins. Like, Damian even jokes that Tim is forgettable. Rob, I hope one day you make a full biography dedicated to Tm Drake to discuss his character and his importance, cuz I really feel like he has made the least impact among the Robins...and if anyone in the comments can explain to me his character more, I welcome you to do that, because I want to understand him more.
@spiderbatman978 жыл бұрын
+Geronimo Martinez Forgetable?, this is the Robin that has the most longest solo series of the 4 ones. He is the guy that made people think that Robin was cool, Dick is more famous for being Nightwing, people really didn't like Jason when he came and many still prefer him as a corpse and Damian is base breaker charather (half of the fandom hate him and the other half love him), he is the only Robin that figured the Batman's identity by himself and the one that join to him, not with the objective to look for revenge but because he realized that Bruce really need a more lighter shade in his life to make him stable. The problem is that after New 52 most of the traits were erased in Lodbell make him a very generic charather.
@GeroniMomartinezMG8 жыл бұрын
spiderbatman97 ah. I'm only familiar with new 52 stuff tbh. what titles can you recommend for me to read so that i can understand Tim Drake more? And when did he become Red Robin instead of just Robin? An issue of Red Hood and Arsenal explained that Tim was intimidated by Jason's legacy of being the robin that died so he chose to be red robin instead. is that consistent with Tim's mythos?
@spiderbatman978 жыл бұрын
Geronimo Martinez Look for the trade called "Robin vol 1: Reborn" and anything about the charather that has been written by Chuck Dixon, his Red Robin series from 2009 is hit and miss, but i sugest to give him a try to that one. He became in Red Robin after the "Battle for The Cowl" storyline when Dick (who was Batman at the time) decided to make Damian Robin. No, thats the New 52 story, he choose originally to be Robin, for what it represented for Batman.

In this story of "Detective Comics" Colonel Kane claimed he was fighting the League of Shadows, but to Batman they are a myth he heard about from Ra's al Ghul (who runs the League of Assassins, don't mix them up). Those drones were sent to eliminate suspected members of the League of Shadows in Gotham. Now, while the majority of the people who were being evacuated by the heroes were probably innocent, that man with the beard and a hat could have been a member of the League. If my little theory is correct that would suggest that Batman was wrong about the existence of the League of Shadows and that a bigger war is waiting for him, Batwoman and the rest of the team. But like I said this is only my little theory.

It seems that Marvel is waaayyyy too extra when it comes to telling stories. It's a blatant cash cow. DC is making everyone happy. Good writing, awesome stories and basically allowing things to flow very smoothly across he board for New and old fans like myself. Tim drake was always the best Robin ,but for not the reasons people think he is the worst fighting Robin ,and his detection skills are rival to if not are better then Batman' s ,and Tim Drake watches and learns about others like Batman ,and if he can study anyone he trumps them automatically, it is only when he meets a new character that Tim Drake is in serious danger, even when Tim Drake is out of the scene Tim can size up a situation and manipulate events to come out in a way he chooses, better then anyone , which is why in Batman Beyond Tim Drake is such a dangerous Joker, the only reason Batman Beyond won the day was because , Tim Drake did not consider him worthy enough to study otherwise Batman Beyond ends.

Ya know I was thinking it could be Superboy/Superman Prime myself but didn't seem like his MO. He never did things on a grand scale using cunning and intelligence. He was always emotional and butt hurt all the time. He lacked control. Unless, there was something major that occurred to him while still being stuck on the source wall....his last known location. Geoff Johns has said there was more to Superboy Prime, but you'd still have to explain a lot to get him to the point of Mr. Oz. Dr. Manhattan could have seen him as coming from "the real world" and it could have meant something to him. All that pain and emotional tidal waves and giving SP another shot? I think the identity being Ozymandias (possibly working with Dr. Manhattan) makes the mystery of who he is too easy and therefor not really one.....we just need confirmation. If that's the case then the value comes into as the how and why of it all. How are they/him pulling all of this off (snatching Doomsday away from Superman using a device to send Doomsday to the negative zone, keeping Doomsday contained, the dimension/place he is residing, what allows him to watch everything happen and being able to go everywhere, etc...)? Then the big question: why? With making corrections, why wait until now, why with subtle piece movement....if Dr. Manhattan is involved he could easily just 'make it so'. Then again, there wouldn't be a story to tell if it happened that easy and Rebirth would suck. I guess it all comes down to all good things come to those who wait. Another theory I've heard is that Dr. Manhattan could have created the entire DCU. Did he also create the multiverse that exists due to that as well. Was the Watchmen's original world/universe the 'real world' and once Dr. Manhattan created a new one he shatter space and time and create a multiverse? Its interesting to see a merge of Watchmen's world and the whole DCU. I mean DC has mixed in Wildstorm and whatnot before. Is this a push for a grand universe merge? Time will tell.....

I meant to say this earlier....I wonder if this is Geoff Johns is trying to get the DCU out from the Judeo-Christian creation with it's hierarchy similar to Marvel, using Dr. Manhattan....? I just hope it doesn't turn into some alternate version of Dr. Manhattan and Ozymandias from yet another reality, similar but not exactly like the Watchmen......

duuude, what if Mr. Oz is Ozymandias and he and Dr. Manhattan decided to create the New 52 Universe together after the events of Watchmen?! But we'll have to wait like 1-2 years to find out

I have a couple of things to say about this. 1. I'm glad to see Tim back in his actual Robin costume. The one that looks the best. The one he originated, though with some tweaks here and there. But.... 2. Why go by "Red Robin" when that is clearly his "Robin" suit? 3. I like Stephanie's being back and I like that her costume is like a mix of her original Spoiler costume with her Batgirl costume. 4. It's great to have Cassandra Cain back in the mix! Though, I'm not too wild over her "Orphan" persona, I'm glad to have her back. But I also sort of feel like having Batwoman call shots over her sort of super weakens her character.
