Seriously one of the saddest endings to a story. Hopefully this is like most comic stories and clayface doesn't actually stay dead. No one ever really stays dead in comics. But this was very well written. I wouldn't say on par with Snyder but still very well written. I'm looking to see how this divides the bat family. But even more so who is the first victim?!?!? De Gale Design Its worth a read, the first arc had a very James Bond/Indiana Jones feel and currently is dealing more with the Colony and her dad but her "Elegy" by Rucka in Detective is an excellent comic in general that encapsulates her character.

The civilians being mad at Batman for trying to reform a villain is really stupid because that’s essentially what Arkham is for. Bad guys go in so they can eventually come out as better people. They’re hating on Batman for doing Arkhams job. These guys can’t be locked away in Arkham forever because it has shit tier security and they eventually escape again to harm more people. Now when one of those villains actually tries to be a good guy and seek redemption it’s understandable that they wouldn’t like it but it’s either that or repeat the formula of Batman locking them up, they escape, kill people only for Batman to lock them up again. This is why Gotham will forever need a Batman. If the cops are tired of Batman doing their jobs for them then they should just execute the villains when their brought in to prevent them from getting out and making the police force look like idiots. And if their legal system won’t allow them to execute the villains then they shouldn’t complain when Batman steps in.

Hey Rob great analysis again. But a couple of things I'm curious about. Tim is FINALLY reconciling his struggle between becoming the Bat and leading a normal life. Tim NEVER wanted to become Batman (we saw the crescendo of this sentiment sketched out in the abysmal Futures End storyline where he wanted to get so far away from the mantle of the Bat that he faked his own death). Tom King is initiating a MASSIVE shift in Tim's character by using the protocols he creates for the self-sustaining crime fighting system as a "pump-fake" for fans familiar with how much Tim wanted to run away from the mantle. This is NEW for TIM. There's a character analysis of Tim that I would like to you do after this video. DC is taking his character in new directions through this new story. It's amazing.

While this story is good, not gonna lie, but the whole future Tim thing kinda makes me mad cause it’s almost at this point a Trope when it comes to a person going back in time meeting themselves, telling them that the future has gone sideways, they know why or who, but NEVER telling them what happened or what might stop it. It’s just a moment of being stupid level of Vague, then POOF! Back to my own timeline! Lets be real for a second. If you could go back and time and stop yourself or someone you know from wreaking the world and had younger you to help, why the hell would you not tell the younger you, what is going on and what happened without being so vague!?

Butterfly Effects, on the Time Traveler's own memory. Basically, in the person's own past, "the future" hasn't happened yet. Even if a "Why Kill Hitler?" Paradox wasn't a concern, the point is, if you change the past too radically, then your own memory of that past becomes suspect since events "didn't quite turn out that way." What was certain becomes up in the air. It's entirely possible that when Future Tim Drake showed up, that he _wanted_ to say more, but couldn't _remember_ what it was down to details. Or maybe he had to juggle the difference between being able/allowed to _remember_ what he knew (letting it happen) and being able/allowed to change what he knew (telling what he knew, or enough so that his younger self could change anything). And yeah, I'd call it a Butterfly Effect just because it changes what was "certain" from the Point of View of the Time Traveler, into something "probable" since information that may or may not be "certain" got into the past. Yeah, you could just write a notecard in the future, seal it in an envelope, and hand the envelope to your past self--and then get a Schroedinger's Cat in an Envelope Problem (would the notecard be there/be legible still, or not?). It's basically a problem of getting information into the past in a situation where probability of corruption (of said info) plays a role.

I can’t really disagree with that, heck I agree, just feels like even with that, they even take that concept and have it work when needed and not work when it would well I guess best way to say it, get in the way of the story. I still like your answer, heck I like the story, just something that bugs me when it comes to time travel, kinda like how you have stories where the main character needs info or the where about of someone or thing and everyone against them knows what the deal is, acts like the main character is stupid for not knowing, only to find out the info was in no shape or form common knowledge and no way others outside of the ones that know would know.

Yep. Agreed. It's a bit of a plot-hammer, but unavoidable considering that these guys are writing on a deadline under editorial orders to get from Point A to Point B in a larger narrative (the collected trade-book, which is where comic book companies make money/break even). It's a shame too since super-hero stories generally are science fiction and have been since Barry Allen showed up, bringing on the Silver Age. You'd think there'd be at least one world in DC Comics where the sci-fi of the genre is plausible. I'm not saying go "hard" sci-fi like something Neil DeGrasse Tyson or other skeptics would approve of, since that would nerf everybody to a ridiculous degree (focusing on what's biologically possible, given water-carbon based life, makes some super-powers way harder than others), but "plausible" isn't too high a bar to aim for, especially when it comes to time travel elements that have been reused since the late 1970s. ; )

Hey Rob, check out my playlist I did in chronological order. I have read all Rebirth comics and since I began reading I've been putting them in order making changes as the comics are published. I have checked references between comics and made a timeline. I guess is not perfect but is pretty good. This is my problem with batman as a character. He isn't willing to accept the repercussions of any of his actions or the lack there of. To be fair, Batman can beat Batwoman anytime. Superman however and all the other "real" super heroes really need to be studied and how they are to be defeated. Plus, it's Batman's Pride that really doesn't allow him to take Batwoman as a serious threat.

In case you're talking about the current events and Clayface's origin which is way different, I don't see how Batman caused Clayface to be what he was. He's a detective, not a Seer. And for your talk about accepting repercussions, Batman faces them, just not as often as others and even if he did, there's no way anyone can prepare for what the future have in store. Clayface's situation makes it clear that while he's redeemable, there's no way he could go back to normal life without help from people like Batman, so he tried his best in his own way. And I hope you're not sympathizing with the villains in this event, these so called "victim syndicate" are no different than the average self righteous psychos in Gotham. I won't be surprised if the so called "first victim" is one of the 3 jokers, or the Red Hood gang leader from the year 0 storyline.
