I really liked Starfire in most of this run. The 'amnesia' thing I can live without. After reading wolfman and Perez and how Dick was always on her case about not killing people. And The clash of cultures between them, it's nice to see her just incinerate evil people and usually not have her boyfriend shame her for it.

Why? Starfire’s portrayal in this series is basically being a sexual goldfish and a lust object rather than a real, strong character. And the guys seem to be fine with having sex with her despite her saying she doesn’t really remember things, which makes the idea that she can consent to sex dubious at best, all in all this doesn’t paint either Jason or Roy in a good light. Also why is it that you think her murdering people is a good thing? She’s a alien who can fly and shoots lasers, that along with super strength means that she doesn’t actually need to kill most villains. And glorifying vigilante murder isn’t really a good thing, especially since the entire point of Red Hood as a character was that his path was a tragedy and not a great thing that actually *worked* in stopping crime. Frankly Starfire’s portrayal in this series is more insulting than anything else.

@@ryancarson6962 I understand most of what you saying. Except she can remember things, she just chooses not too, it's dumb I know. Also, and I hear this alot, she never has sex with Jason. Issues zero makes clear that they have a platonic relationship. And Jason doesn't really lust after anyone in this series. As for the murder it's just annoying to have dick constantly rag on her for being a warrior in the wolfman Perez run. And while murder is not great if, say, Batman would just kill the joker he wouldn't be murdering people all the time and escaping. Her relationship with Roy is mostly problematic because she doesn't tell him the truth about her memories, he genuinely loves her.

@@ryancarson6962 Also with respect to sexual objectification, the incredible art by Kenneth does really emphasize her sexuality but you can't say it wasn't present before. From the powergirl boob window to nightwing's ass, it's all over comics. Kenneth just really went 110% on it. And the awkwardly written scene where she asked Roy for sex isnt helping. Though that seems to have happened three weeks after they say him, not the next day as the conversation between Roy and Jason would seem to indicate.

He said to jason that if he killed Joker his darker temptations would overcome his next urge and the one after, this is what made batman, daredevil and other characters great. Whoa. Whoa. The writing here is so hit and miss. One minute it's a good line, next it's sexual harassment. One minute it's an interesting take on Blackfire, next minute it's making Superman throw the first punch at Starfire like a jerk. He would never. And Isabel was in the fridge faster than Jason could sarcastically quip about it. The joker "creating" Jason is stupid and unnecessary. He has enough power over Jason by killing him. Gotta say I don't even understand that Red Hood origin story. Why did him finding his mom and getting knocked out and put in the Lazarus pit turn him into the Hood?

Basically Jason goes to look for his mother and finds her but she is working for the joker so she rats him out and the joker kidnappers him and tortures jason in a ware house eventually leaving him in it with a bomb wich ends up killing him. Eventually after a few years of Jason being dead he is revived by Talia in the lazarus pit, after Jason comes back to life he learns that the joker is still alive and has killed/harmed many people since he has been dead, this makes Jason angry with Bruce because wile he forgives him for not saving him he is angry that batman didn't kill the joker because if it would have been bat man the joker killed Jason would have murdered him. This and the fact that Jason was still hevaly traumatised by the events that lead up to his death, being tortured and killed by the joker he decides that batman's methods arnt enough to protect people and that you need to be allot harsher when dealing with Vilans and that some need to be killed. Jason decides that he will start to control crime his own way and takes the name 'red hood' wich was an alius the joker used to go by. I feel they would have explained his origen better in this comic, if ur intrested in Jason theirs a rlly good movie about his origins of how he became red hood called 'Under The Red Hood'.
