I love how she has the opposite of a tragic backstory. No dead parents for her, just a dad with infinite connections (all the ones she needs), the disposable wealth to build a Bat Cave, and is endlessly accepting of her life choices. Like, if she one day called her dad and was like, "I'm not sure I want to be a hero anymore. I kind of want to blow up the whole city." would he be like, "Alright, well I'll have some bombs shipped over, just make sure to get all your valuables to a safe distance. Will you need a new costume as a villain or is Bat Woman still going to be functional?"

I honestly didn't realize this current version of Batwoman (that most recent depictions are of) was created not so long ago. I was familiar with the original one but not the weird aunt version. The crux of any marriage is that no hero is driven because of some kind of happy ending. Like, marriage is somehow akin to childhood stories of "happily ever after"? Even marriage between same-sex couples? Marriage as the end of the hero's story... because it is the endgame of happiness... eh. That just tells me the people who oppose it are either clueless about how marriage usually makes happiness harder or how they want to make the farce of its fantasy a reality. Marriage can actually create problems and drive one, former vigilante or not, to do the vigilante life. Former people of action would rush into marriage when their passions align, but that would not be the "happily ever after" marriage. They would be in paradise at first, but when the dynamic of their personalities and lives bled back in... the marriage would become far less than "happily ever after" and an even compromised marriage would be complicated. Marvel did those dysfunctions quite well. Although, among superhero marriages, spouse murders would be a bit more common.
