This game got me into the painting hobby. I still don't consider my paint jobs good, but I have improved with more attempts and do enjoy having colors vs a sea of gray figures. Wish you the best as you get started! :)

Thank you Dale. I have very little confidence in painting because it feels big and scary. Especially with Shadows of Brimstone! However, this video has made me go, "its not soooo bad, maybe i should try." You explained what you were doing for me to understand (washes and dry brushes). Thank you!

This video brought back memories of when I played Warhammer 40k. Sometimes I think I enjoyed posing and painting them as much as I did playing the game. Would have loved to see you do a video on you painting the Marvel United X-Men. Those figures in your game play came out looking really nice brother.

Love your vids dale! As others have said I would get a wet palette. I would also trying thinning your paints with a drop of water. The paint will go on the miniature more evenly and it won’t look as thick. With the wet palette you won’t use as much paint. At $7 a bottle that game color paint is expensive. Happy painting sir!
@DaletheCasualGamer4 жыл бұрын
@kamb26 Thanks for watching, and thanks for the recommendations! Curious, with adding water, would you recommend 2 layers, or is just one layer still good enough? :)
@kamb264 жыл бұрын
@@DaletheCasualGamer so with water you’d want to do two coats. With one you probably will still see color of the miniature(whatever you primed it in). When you put water into the paint, you want to see even strokes on the palette when testing it. When using a wet palette you only have to add enough water until you see even strokes. So not as much if you were using a dry palette. Wet palettes preserve paint though so it’s still a good investment imo. There’s a good video from games workshop on thinning paints. It’s imo extremely difficult to master (I haven’t yet.🤣) but the result looks great. Oh also you might want to look at primer that’s made for miniatures from Games Workshop. It’s expensive but it goes on evenly. There’s also tamiya white primer that works well too bc it’s made to go on models. Sorry for rambling. :/

@the250mikec I go through spells. This was my first painting in a while. I did the 4 heroes in Gloomhaven Jaws of the Lion, and most of the miniatures in Reichbusters. There are still about 100 mini's in Shadows that need some love, and thousands in other games. I love mini's and the thought of painting ... but not the actual painting. ;)

@@DaletheCasualGamer the painting is my relaxing time, but mostly cause I can leave them out and come back later. If there's any pressure at all to finish is when it gets to be work, but sometimes the reward comes when you whip it out on the table. Especially for minions. Paper absorbs and dries your paint quickly. You should at least use a plastic pallet . Some other useful pallets to consider are wet pallets, or a glazed piece of tile. You should also be thinning your paints with water. :)

@Ragnot Greymane After this video I did pick up Blood Bowl Season 2, but hadn't played many of their games prior. I'm actually not a fan of assembling miniatures or painting, but sometimes the OCD kicks in. For paints I use Game Color (Vallejo) paints for bases and GW Citadel for their shades.
