Because if it actually did happen that way, Akeem got sober and over the drugs pretty quick to still be able to go back out and discover Lisa at the black awareness rally. The son is coming from America into a whole new costume, he is going from a ghetto background into a life a luxury, ofc he’s going to travel to Zamunda and act the same way he did in as when he was in America because he was not a costumed to the way they acted in Zamunda, he’s not gonna go to Zamunda and immediately change the way he acts.

Same screen writers, but Eddie Murphy wrote the story for the first film... Sheffield wrote for SNL when it was good, and apparently his writing aged with SNL. Fuck this film. Original cast, member berries, and some good new bits makes it a 3/10 for me. I'm gonna go watch the original again...
