The reason Jill and Mike are still married: Gratitude. There is none of this "bare minimum" crap. When they do stuff for each other, even if its the small stuff, you see them both show gratitude for the other person. There's other reasons for sure. But this is a big one. The homeless statement was not appropriate, but Ryan was making a reference towards his brother lying on the ground in the airport, In which a lot of homeless people do lay on the gound, As for them not understanding because they never struggle I'm sure their struggle for the children parents were different than some, In my opinion shouldn't make assumptions because of a person reference it's what he has seen.
