My father was a very hard working farmer. Worked till the sun goes down and beyond. Sometimes it would be 9pm when I hear my most favorite song....coming in from the cold....That would be him...coming in from the cold, hard pressed life. This song has been my strength over forty years now and even more so over the past 26 years of his passing. Bob has penned and recorded magic in almost every song he produced....even if they were given him, they were penned with the great man in mind. All I can say now is...timeless

@@AS-wj1du Friend, are you a Jamaican citizen living in the West Indies, or are you Jamaican in terms of family heritage ? The reason I ask: two times I travelled to the Island & stayed up in the mountains. There, parties took place near the road, near two small shops, and near to the good water well used by community members living higher up the mountain… They DJs almost never played Marley, nor Peter Tosh, nor classics like the Melodians, the Ethiopians, and the Congos. It was always Jamaican beats, and 90% of the time, the “extra” vinyl record contained a recorded a singer: the vocals were renditions of other people’s contemporary popular songs. (Sometimes an original like Captain Barkey got broadcast: his single Anti****st remains a top-tier tune even today.) But I myself am a musician, so of course I wanted to see bands play & perform, y’know ? But, everyplace I went: no guitars and no drums either 😳 Overall, that’s all ok because I got to witness dance-hall & I was taught the magic of local rum mixed with Nestlé Suppligens topped with a little bit of Tia Maria. {Exellent cocktail / mixed drink !! 100% recommend !!} Anyway, because you mentioned that you’ve been recently finding appreciation for Marley’s music, I’m curious if the reason is maybe Sound-System DJ music crowding it out. 🤷‍♀️. DJs *could* put Marley & / or Peter Tosh records on their turn-tables, if they wanted to. I wonder if Sound-System music has forever replaced live bands 🤔 I mostly stayed just in the village & only seldom went into Montēgo Bay Town and only once into Kingston, and I didn’t see a single guitar the entire time 😳🙏🎼🪘🎸🥁🎷

It‘s only a pity,that all the words,so many stars were already singing about problems decades before, as there are Bob Marley, Peter Tosh,Randy Crawford,Al Jarreau, and many others too, still are true and so necessary too; even so nothing changed,and I doubt, it ever will change to the better. As Salomon Burke is longing for,singing for it so bad : "Change is gonna come,oh yes,it will… „ No,Sir,I‘m terribly sorry, it won‘t.

Marley, Gaye, Lennon when he went solo. These Men were not perfect Men. But at some point in their lives, they were chosen, touched, inspired, by a universal conscious of wisdom and eternal love, to create music that feeds the human soul. "Loorrd! have this grilled cheese!"✌🏼

It's been a matter of pure amazement for me, for years now, the depth and fractal truth of this first sentence, "In this life we're coming in from the cold". To resort to the internet meme, this is true on some many levels. But, seriously, Bob somehow managed to state something that stands true for everything that we regard as life and its struggle to be. Even at a cosmic level, everything indeed flows to be cold, particles to distance from each other, there's the universal tendency for maximum entropy, after all. Life seems to always fight for the opposite: to come in from the cold. To order. To get together. To heat. And then there's the depth of this idea on a social and cultural level. This is also what everyone is doing all the time: seeking shelter. Don't know... too much being said and called attention for in a single sentence.

Very very interesting , it's polarity right?
@gustavopinheiro7670
@gustavopinheiro7670 2 жыл бұрын
@@ghanaempressajourneyhome4266 Yes, if we get it to a very abstract level, this kind of ideas show up: polarity, entropy, ... I like the subtle suggestion, in this lyrics, that life itself fights this overall stream, tendency of everything, between such polarity. Matter and energy flows towards a state of cold equilibrium (perhaps this is only so while the universe's expanding? haha!), and life tries to be always moving against it. We seek and rely upon sources of light. Of heat.
