Thank you for this! It's one of my favorite subgenres in any genre, but especially horror. "My Best Friend's Exorcism" and "The Body" are two of my favorites, lots of other faves on here too. A lot of these are already on my TBR. ✌️❤️

It's weird ,you pretty much named every book on my list ,was surprised to see you picked The Thief of Always ,and The Talisman. The only book you missed on my list(which is much shorter)was Shadowland ,by Peter Straub. Great List as usual!
@taylortalkstales81064 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! The reason why Shadowland isn't on this list is because I actually haven't had a chance to read it yet! I'm hoping to get to it this summer since I've heard good things about it.

Thanks for your reviews, I read boys life, and that's how I found this video today. I need to read it again, I remember liking it but I do remember thinking it was slow, like you said about the beginning. McCammon Also wrote Gone South, which you may like. That had a bit of a slow start too. Did you read The Saturday Night Ghost club? Not exactly "horror" but some horror imagery and scenes for sure. And it shot to the top of my coming of age books list.

Great books. I do have a few recommendations for you. Coming of age horror/thrillers... The Voice of the Night by Dean Koontz, The Horror Club by Mark Morris,and if you like carnival creepy fairs, try The Eyes of the Beast by Steve Harris.
@taylortalkstales81064 жыл бұрын
Thank you Anthony! I just looked those up and they all sound interesting. Turns out my library has a copy of The Voice of the Night so I put a hold on it. Will try to track down copies of the other two. Thank you so much for the recommendations! :)

I've got so much love for anything Bradbury, especially Halloween Tree and From the Dust Returned. I tried so so hard to read the Talisman.... So far I'm up to having read 31 of King's books and so far that's my least favourite....I loved My Best Friend's Exorcism though, it was like a way better version of that Megan Fox movie, Jennifer's Body lol
@taylortalkstales81064 жыл бұрын
I agree! My Best Friend's Exorcism did a great job with the female friendship aspect (plus I loved the 80s nostalgia) while Jennifer's Body didn't do that at all. If anything, it just made me wonder how on earth Needy and Jennifer were ever friends to begin with, not to mention it seemed like it stereotyped both of them to the point of exaggeration. It's a shame because that movie had that potential but didn't explore it. Totally understand about the Talisman. I liked it and liked it enough to recommend it to others (the right reader will love it), but it certainly is not one of Stephen King's best. It'll be interesting to see how the upcoming movie adaptation turns out. I am always a mix of curious and skeptical when it comes to book to film adaptations, especially King adaptations. The new Pet Sematary movie is one I wish I could unsee haha.
@MaxReads4 жыл бұрын
Oh my god the new Pet Semetary was fully trash. I didn't know about the Talisman adaptation! I'll keep an ear to the ground! Pretty excited for the new adaptation of "The Stand" though, looks like it's got a really good cast lined up!
