I just want to say that I completely understand why it was so hard for Joey to be a i Eric come out to his family and friends. I to am gay and found it really hard to come out because I didn’t know if all of my guy friends would be worried out or if they thought that I was going to like every boy in my year group but that wasn’t the case. I just didn’t look at girls on that was but that doesn’t mean that I look at every boy and say oooo he’s fit or I like him because it wasn’t like that. I just looked at boys that I fancied in that way if you know what I mean. I first came out to my family then friends and then it got spread around my whole school so I didn’t need to worry about telling anyone else. What I am trying to say is that it isn’t always that easy to come out to people because for about 6-7 months I would come home crying my eyes out because I was so upset about all the bullying. It was just really hard and know how hard it was for kory to be open about it which I respect him for so much. Sorry for the million word essay. I just really wanted to explain how hard it can be for some people to come out especially when you don’t think that you can trust anyone. Love you kory and love Colleen for being so supportive of him. Your amazing, fabulous and will always be my inspiration. By for now. ❤️

Yess this is the exact reason I refrained from coming out for so long because i didn’t want it to be a ‘thing’ lol I just wanted everyone to know without having to tell them especially my parents and some of my closest friends I still haven’t told most people because I don’t want to have to have that conversation. When I told the couple people that know it was the most stressful thing ever not knowing if they would still love me the way they did before and I’m so lucky they both support me but ik there will come people that won’t and that is so scary that one day I will have to tell them. i know this was posted long time ago but i feel like it needs to be said, i'm also out to everyone in my school but not my parents since when i came out as bi they told me i'm confused, they didn't raise me like this, they think it's a phase they said i know i don't like girls that way.... i came out at December 2019 as gay then, this January i fell in love with this girl who happened to be my last years crush, she still isn't out and hearing this story broke my heart, being with a closet gf is hard at times but it's never ever OK to tell everyone that she or even he is not straight, i would never ever do that to anyone and especially my gf.. yes there will be struggles at times but telling everyone without their acknowledgement is just horrible, just like how we all were in closet, it's scary, so plz respect them

With so much communication in our world now, we all know there are many gay people and thankfully many come out on tv or video. Actually, there is some evidence that its not 100% genetic and there can be some environmental things in early life (mind you genetics is not simple either, so many effects from epigenetics and hormone levels around and so on). Being a choice or not shouldn't mean its ok to discriminate, either way. There's no evidence attraction to any particular person is a choice, although you can deny and ignore it to yourself and just feel awkward, and have the option not to do anything about it, which is harmful in the long term if you always try to do that. But there's not enough evidence to say its all from genes and that level of biology. I think all the laws in place where LGBT+ people are protected don't rely on not-a-choice that as the reasoning (heard that it is irrelevant for at least some).

Personally, I'm an atheist, but i have gone to like bible school and stuff like that. I know how they talk about people who sin, and i know a lot of (usually old-fashioned people) think of gay people as a part of that. I love meeting religious people that believe in something that's had something against the LGBTQ community and are still allies or even part of the community because i think that's the real reason for religion. I don't think it's to make you feel loved or important or the stuff other atheists say it's for, I truly believe religion is a beautiful thing when used to bring people together, and boy is it a breath of fresh air.

My brother is gay and he used to get made fun of for "talking like a girl" or "looking like a girl" and he used to cry all the time. My mom already knew he was gay but she would cry cause she would feel so bad for him. And there is nothing wrong with being gay. It's better to live your life loving who your with then hating your life because u can't be with someone you love.I know that coming out is hard but it does get better. if your friends don't like you for being gay then they aren't your real friends. i really relate to kory. as an lgbtq kid, i grew up in a homophobic atmosphere, and it was incredibly mentally damaging for me. i felt trapped and i was pretty much unable to come out of the closet at all because of all the hatred for the lgbtq community that i saw around me. because of that past, i'm still too scared to come out of the closet, even when i am now surrounded by a much more accepting atmosphere. in my university, i see people walking around proudly with gay pride pins on their bags. i see proud, openly trans students everywhere. but i'm still too afraid to come out. i feel his pain. you are so strong kory.
