Comix Zone Speed Run in

So, when I first started running this game, I didn't think it would be that bad to run. But after I broke down the game and were getting better, faster strats, that's when I found out just how insane this game really is. Everything is random...the enemy AI, the item drops (the ? ones), even some dialog. On top of that, random glitches can happen that will completely ruin a run. If you wanna see a good example, look through my videos for the reset glitch.
I have had so many run get ruined just by random bullshit, most that will cost me a lot of time, and most of the time, I can't do anything about it except just deal with it. That's pretty much what I did with this run. It can be improved somewhat, but the game is so random, you're damn lucky if you even make it through the game at all.

Definitely tough, but I remember beating it a few times as a kid. It's such a short game, so you really get to know it well replaying over and over as you die.

People are like: oh this game is so short. Dude trust me, if you don't know this game inside out, it takes days to finish it. Hell, who am I kidding, 90% of the people never finished this game. Nowadays, with emulator you can save, but back in the days, this game had no save and no continue, if you die you are done, most people didn't make pass chapter 1.

redpanda416 I played it on sega megadrive 2 and wouldnt say it was hard to finish it (ofc not so fast). imo cuthroat island or lion king were a bit harder games to complete.

Yeah I played lion king too, there are some really hard part in that game, but with unlimited continues you can eventually pass them. The hard part for the comic zone is if you get a game over it's really over, you have to start from the very beginning, so you have to make it in one play through.

Well with Each chapter you complete you get a continue. But I'd say Lion King although with more continues, is a bit harder. Comix Zone is a great game though, took me about an hour to complete it.

I would say using the paper airplane in-between rooms was probably a form of glitch or unintended mechanics. Also using the invincibility frames when you get damaged to pass through certain obstacles e.g. 7:12 seems likes its bypassing the game designers intention for you to destroy obstacles. None of that matters though, since we cant read the game designers minds weather or not something is a glitch is ultimately an opinion. Find and using glitches is a skill of it's own.

Whats really cool about this run through... Its so much faster than any of mine. And I think most people would consider me to be good at this game... But, I also think you can shave some time off this speed run. I think it could be done just a bit faster as you had some boss trouble in stage 2 and a few other bits where you got held up. But, by and large you are a smooth dedicated player.

Bloody hell, I had the PC port of this on my Windows 95 PC and somehow never knew you could do paper planes. I got very good at this game and loved it, but not sure if I ever made it passed level 3. Great to see it tamed!

I use to be able to beat this game reliably when I was a kid in under 25 minutes. Yes, a few times I would flub a jump and die in a chapter 1 stage 1 or die at the end of level 2 stage 1... Some people say this game is hard... It is and it isn't. You just have to stick with it. It took me a couple of months to beat the game. But, since this is a game I consider to be one of the best on the console, wasn't really that much of a chore to stick with it. Plus each game play is unique due to the nature of the combat of the game. Enemies will block and behave just a bit different to keep you on your toes. When I started to replay this game I could get to Level 3 easily... Took me awhile to relearn the best route and strategy. And now I am back to beating the game easily in under 25 minutes.

I did a bit of research and apparently there's a poorly documented glitch that instantly kills the first boss if you get hit with the paper plane and it pushes you inside it. Even if you're not attacking. That's really weird behavior
