What you need to understand is exactly when this happened, EA was bragging about how pro multicultural they were and how great being gay is. Immediately after they made their stance on these issues public and began to discriminate against very qualified employees, their games went to crap and their business model became degenerate. The same also has gone on with other video game companies. But um... who am I to kid. Which is frankly stupid. EA has done alot of shit, sure. But closing down Westwood isn't one of them, as most of the staff had left after Renegade in 02. EA then did the natural thing and closed the studio, and let most of the developers go to EA LA, which would later make C&C Generals.

Idk if what i said is related but probably nostalgia aside, the feeling we get from looking at old games prolly be expectation. There were so much effort in making games in the old times that it really is hard to work for a game, thus they gave it all they've got(imagine making something from scratch. ofcourse you don't want to put it to waste). But now with easier and faster ways of making them, devs ends up lacking quality. Bland ideas, caters to what is already there, lack of creativity. tldr. Today: Too many games created, but few good quality-made games. Because imo devs and companies tries to cater so much on many gaming categories and such that their ability to create is diminished
