Answering the comment question: I’m not sure I will have a playthrough. At least not any time soon. The things I’ve heard about the game makes me not want to spend money on it. If I WAS playing it, I’d probably go Human Mage Mourn Watch. No particular reason. Just because no-one is giving that faction love and mage makes sense for them.

My first playthrough is a human rogue from the shadow dragons. Tracks in my head, you start probably at the lowest and punch way up by taking down some blighted mage gods.

I’m a dwarf grey warden, if we’re fighting two gods controlling the most powerful blight in history I think it makes sense to play as a character that is completely dedicated to wiping out the blight. Plus being able to play a warden again after so long is just nice.

Excited to see the Presidents playthrough of this! 🎉 We’re back with peak! My opinion of the game is, personally I’m enjoying the gameplay in terms of combat. The RPG elements are lacking somewhat, dialogue can be a bit clunky and lore continuity can be frustrating. The companions are all likeable, which is fine though I miss having characters with some attitude like Sten/Carver/Fenris. (God I love Fenris) Character creation is pretty fantastic. Graphics are clean. I’ve not encountered any bugs (yet) and frame rate seems steady.

For my first playthrough I chose shadow dragon it is difficult to make any real choice because no matter what origin you choose, you are basically a trouble maker who dances to their own drum

For my first playthrough I plan to do the Mourn Watch. I listened to a couple of videos about Nevarra and the idea of Necromancy has always been underrated in Dragon Age. I am excited to see the interactions with Emmrich as well.

@@GeorgeGale-zs8id I am a mourn watch mage, and it’s actually pretty cool, reading into it it’s cool to see an entire culture of necromancers being a force for good, and all around decent folk for the most part. Emmerik is perhaps my fav companion personality wise so far in my playthrough.

Personally going to probably have to be an Elven mage warden for my first run. While Rogue's have always been a preference for me, Recent replays of the series have had me exploring and enjoying being a mage, especially Arcane Warrior in Origins, and Knight Enchanter in Inquisition. I've always picked elf when able and I love the Grey Wardens so I cannot pass up the chance to be one again. Discovering your channel and the Presidents play series has been wonderful and some of my favorite videos.

Maybe next episode Barack could explain why the Venatori are still a thing in Veilguard. I thought they were a cult dedicated specifically to Corypheus (who would be 11 years dead at this point), not just generic Tevinter bad guys. I figured they'd disband after Corypheus died.

I'm going to play an elven warden rouge. Not only because we're dealing with the old elven gods, thus making it somewhat appropriate, but with this being a blight issue as well it only makes sense to bring out the grey wardens who ever since the first game have been the best to deal with the blight. Not to mention given how these gods are responsible for the blight in the first place, it makes all the more sense to bring a champion from a group that accepts all walks of life to end it once and for all. as for the reason for the rouge it's mainly because it was the first class I played when I started playing these games, so I figured to finish it off with the class that started it all for me.

Watched all the Origins content so far, absolutely loving this series. I will try to do something a bit more on the unique side: a dwarven rogue with the mourn watch background. Picture this: a dwarven agent that keeps an eye out for potential malefactors using magic for villainous purposes, such as disturbing the remains of the innocent dead by raising them up as soldiers for their army or as cannon fodder to loot trapped vaults. As someone who is rather untrustworthy of magic, my dwarf would look at being in the mourn watch as an important position of keeping evil magic users from being able to use necromancy for vile purposes; the only spellcasters he'd have any reason to fully trust would be those vetted by the mourn watch itself, though he'd be willing to give a pass to other mages that would help fend off evil(Neve, for example.).

Thanks! I respect that you are covering this game despite the less then steller reception. I have finished the game and overall found it pretty good. Imo it's the worst dragon age game so far though. I must admit I missed alot of the lore beats as I did not find myself as invested in it as the previous games. I look forward to hearing all your lore bits and how it connects to previous games.

I completed Veilguard today so this was perfect timing for me! I just finished the game as an Elven sword and board champion grey warden - lots of fun roleplaying opportunities with this combination, and I'm sure the boys are going to really enjoy being a warden. Thought I'd correct something lore master Obama said: sword and board actually attack multiple enemies in this one too, that isn't exclusive to two handers anymore.

I went Lord of Fortune, because it felt like it made the most sense, story wise, for Varric to recruit a LoF Rook. Warden, Crow, Shadow Dragon, and Mournwatch don't have any skills that would be uniquely useful for hunting Solas. Lord of Fortune Rook is described as a rising star because of their talent for getting into ruins and tombs. Since Solas operates out of his old strongholds, LoF Rook is a natural fit for the squad. Veil Jumper works well too, but the Lords of Fortune hunt glory and gold, and taking down a god is certainly glorious. So, a LoF Rook seems more likely to accept Varric's invite than a Veil Jumper Rook.

My first play through is currently an elf mage for the shadow dragons. It was a tie between Shadow Dragons or Veil Jumpers for that sweet-sweet lore. But going Shadow Dragons was for a bit of self lore of my Rook being a freed slave and was recruited after killing their owner with magic when they weren’t still being treated like trash despite being a mage just because they were an elf. So they did it for the culture, the people, and the get-back on bum ass magisters

So for my origin (when I eventually get the game), I plan to play a Human Warrior Grey Warden first as I feel since Origins, that the Wardens were somewhat pushed off to the side and I never saw much in way of love for them like they had in Origins. While I understand the first game centered around them, it would have been nice to see them actively out and about in the world apart from the one cutscene in DA2 where they are running to deal with something. In Inquisition, I am sad to say that my life got busy, and so I never got to finish the game on my first playthrough, and starting it back up the first major area you go always took up a majority of my time since I am a completionist. Blackwall was an awesome companion from what I remember, and so I am trying to finish Inquisition on my newest playthrough and then hope to play Veilguard in it's entirety. Also, just wanna say I love the series with the presidents, I have your two movies downloaded on my KZbin and have listened to them each at least twice now. My favorite parts of those are always the Obama Lore Bits, and the crash outs are always hilarious too. I hope you enjoy your playthrough, and wish you much luck in the future as the videos are great. :)

Aw man, I remember voting for elf mage character. I'm sad it lost. My first character is a human, mage Antivan Crowe. Because of that, the only consequential decision was an easy one.

For my first playthough i would go with Dwarf Grey Wardens ... Dwarf because they are my favorite fantasy race but also unique in DA universe for their relation to fade and magic ... and for the background grey wardens strike me as the best fit for a dwarf since the rest of them seems to imply magic connection or nationality ... and Grey Wardens are the organization i knows best so it will be a good start to learn about the lore of the others during my first playthough

I would play as an elf mage warden. Warden because of nostalgia, and who better to "defeat" Solas than the person in an organization that he despises. And also a warden would be best suited to fight against the Blight and those who wield it as a weapon. Elven mage, because there will definitely be a lot of hate towards mages and elves in Thedas after the events of Veilguard. One elven mage wanted to bring the Veil down and then two other elven mages were making everything Blighted and life worse in general. A good way to resolve some of the upcoming tension is to have at least one good elf mage who stood against the three "gods" shenanigans. So there would be less people who will say that all mages and elves are bad and need to be purged. Like in Inquisition, a guy in Haven admitted that not all mages can be bad since one of them defeated the Archdemon during the Fifth Blight. It probably won't happen like that, but that will be my headcanon until the next game at least.

If/When I play Veilguard, I am thinking of dwarf because I recently finished DAO and similar to Trump, I've come to greatly respect the dwarves. Especially after learning how much the Blight negatively impacted Dwarven society; especially after learning that when the Blight is over, the Dwarves have to deal with remnants of it. Overall, I have mad respect towards the dwarfs, and I got to show it.

And now that i know what i know with what I've seen from trailers, interviews, and choices made by the developers. Bioware will not get a single cent from me for this game, nor will i spend a single second playing it myself.

This has been bugging me a lot, trying to pick a faction since they all sound cool! But I think I'm gonna go with a Lords of Fortune Dwarf Warrior! I always play a warrior first in every Dragon Age, and only recently have I become more interested in playing a Dwarf more than a Human. Getting more Takedowns easier always sounds fun! Like having the Messy Kill mod in DA:O. Plus not many folks I've seen pick LoF, so it'd be neat to be one of the few, the proud, the Lords of Fortune!

I'm currently playing an Elven Veil Jumper mage, same as Joe and for most of the same reasons. I also think that Elven Veil Jumper fits a mage thematically and I'm going mage because the spell-sword type specializations have always been my jam (Arcane Warrior and Knight Enchanter ftw). I'm not sure how Veilguard's spellblade specialization fits in with the lore, but I'm having a blast. It seems to be an Antivan Crow thing, but I would be curious to know if it has any relation to AW and KE, since we know those two are related in the lore. I also have to say, damn the landscapes and architecture in this game are gorgeous. I know they kind of limit the dark fantasy aesthetic that Dragon Age is supposed to have, but it's worth it. Minrathous and Treviso are just sights to behold in this game and I'm constantly stopping to look off in the distance and admire the view while I'm playing.

Almost done and its turned into my second favorite dragon age. Origins the best ofc. Edit, now complete and 8 outta 10 some pacing and writing issues but usually good and the finale was amazing. Bioware finally made a good ending

I'm playing a human male Warden with the warrior class, only for the reason, that's the class and race I've picked for all my first playthroughs! I also headcanon that my Rook got inspired from my OG cousland warden and that's why he joined the Wardens and saved that village from the blight in his backstory! I got veilguard for my xbox x for a birthday present but as for what I plan to play as when I start I am not sure I am probably going to play as human or dwarf as my first choice class will be either rogue of mage I might try warrior on mayb a second Playthrough but as for which of the six faction I will choose I haven't a clue for me it would be a toss up between shadow dragon, grey warden, veil jumper, antiven crow,or possibility a member of the mourn watch. Or maybe even a lords of fortune I will make that choice after I get ready to play it

Hey commander fawkes I always like playing a character who counters or breaks the arguments of villains. Like for fallout new Vegas I play a female courier to repudiate the shit beliefs of Caesar. So I would either like to play an Elf, as for class I think I would want to play a mage or ranged fighter. I don’t know the classes or backgrounds yet. You’re the reason I am playing dragon age origins and I plan to do atleast 2 play-throughs I would love your opinions for my first play through.

Ive been play non-stop currently going through my lvl 30 warrior. And endgame sword and shield is insanely hype! You can block anything but still get knocked on your ass so fights still have tension, it's great. Hoping to do a rouge build after

I already have the game so I'll pass on the giveaway. I'm a based Dwarf Rogue with the Lords of Fortune (offed a corrupt noble so doubly based). Not sure about Specialization (leaning towards Saboteur) or romance. But not Harding. I want to do a Qunari run for her. I was thinking Taash (for the reverse of Harding lol) but now I'm not so sure. Depends on if the character turns out to be too annoying or preachy. I was gonna do Warrior but didn't like how you lose your meter when battles end (but I probably will once I feel more comfortable with the gameplay). Hail Sandal!

My rook is a female human grey warden who is the daughter of my Cousland and Alistair that left Ferelden to become a grey warden like her parents because she feels like staying at the palace in Denerim isn’t for her so she went to the northern lands of Thedas so she wouldn’t be in the shadows of her parents.

First playthrough I am already running as a Shadow Dragon Human Bow Rogue. As I mentioned recently think I was pretty much destined to play a Shadow Dragon since Dragon Age Origins since, for some ungodly reason, I have always been enamored with the Tevinter Imperium, the lore, and the characters. Some of my favorite villains and characters of the series are from Tevinter and really playing my Shadow Dragon as a son of a magister who wants to free the slaves and reform Tevinter has been a pretty peak experience so far.

My first playthough would be a Qunari Mage if I did play this game. If by chance I win, give it to someone else. I love the videos, but I'm not a DA fan. Not my kind of gamplay.

My first rook is a dwarf grey Warden he's in his thirties whose family was send topside centuries ago so when corypheus cold on the grey wardens he had refused believing in the Inquisition and had already heard about them after what happened even if they are exiled he wants to redeem the order for such a colossal failure and being used.

I never watch the first few minutes of a video. I had no idea so many of our presidents like this game, this is nuts man. This video completely changes how I see these guys and going forward my voting will reflect that.

When I get my money up to get this game, I intend to play a Qunari Mage from Mourn Watch, seems like a 7 foot tall wizard that fights undead, and therefore, demons, would feel right at home in any area of the game

Top notch as always. I can't play as I am homeless but if I were to I'd be a human rogue from the poorest possible background and faction playing like someone wanting to watch the world burn.
