Purphoros goes well with a red/white deck that pumps out soldier tokens as well. Plus it keeps your devotion to red down if you are keen on keeping Purphoros off the front-lines.

Side note, with porphuros, Kiki and lightning crafter out, you deal infinite damage by copying lightning crafter, championing Kiki and then having the token kill itself.

sry if you said it in the Video, but it is a good idea, to keep your Devotion less than five, because its easier to kill purphoros when he is a creature

My favorite way to play red would be Spellslinger. =D. On a side note, I do happen to own Karn Liberated, O-Stone, Nev-Disk and Liquimetal Coating. What do you think I can replace to have an out to enchantments? Maybe Steel Hellkite too. On other words, congratulations on a deck that is super fun, can be very cheap, and is destructive. And it fits too flavor-wise: goblins work at Purphoros' massive forges. =3

Another good inclusion, since you'll usually have a ton of creatures would be Burn at the Stake. Quite brutal when you have Krenko out.

Note to any MTGO players, this deck as of Feb. 3, is only going to run you about $21 for the cheapest copies of every card from mtgotraders.com. Great for getting into the format, and can always be upgraded by adding some staples like Sol Ring, Temple of the False God, and others.

I'd like to see if you could make a Scion of the Ur Dragon Tribal, but i have a feeling that all the good dragons would be hard to get under $50, even a mono-red dragon deck would probably be nigh improbable. I'm also wondering if there are any good Nath of the Gilt-Leaf budget lists, I have had him since lorwyn and never really used him.

My favorite way to play mono red is to use my DBZ theme deck because if you are going to make infinite mana you better do it in style!

With origins coming out, wouldn't embermaw hellion be a very powerful card in the deck as every goblin becomes a lightning bolt rather than just a shock? Also a 4/5 trample for 5 is rather strong.

Favorite way to play red (standard "for fun" deck) would have to be haste,first strike,infect and unblockable. Quite annoying if played right!

Wouldn't the opponent lose the game because of phurpros commander damage? He deals 2 each time a creature enters the battlefield, so it would be really easy to get up to 21 damage.

Mmmm.....red burn, the 2nd best way to play burn, and the most consistent. My heart will always belong to red for zany and weird chaotic spells, though. Fiery Gambit ftw!

TopAndGoProductions I thought you guys might be able to do something. I tried but I only got mine down to $78. That's better than me. My average deck is $200-$300 so for being less than that this deck look pretty solid. Maybe I should watch one budget vids so I can make more decks. Or maybe be a Spike by nature I just can't do it but thanks for showing us the power of budgeting.

PhlegethonianStream Well, imo you could just cut one land for faithless looting, too. They dig for lands and are just sick (red!) draw spells if you have Pyrewild Shaman or Squee. Actually Adaptive Automaton could be a pick, too.
