But, this is 5 years ago, and seeing a dair into ground pound was only something Sandstorm did consistently at the time. AND he popularized that. and the skill ceiling rises, these matches are like average low plat games today.

Part of it could be the fact that there usually had 4-5 hit combos, brawl players had more personality, or even the fact that half the match wasn’t intense neutral and a staring contest

Probably because hard reads on opponents was so much more rewarding because of true combos helping you build damage fast. Now that dodge and dash changed its gotten completely hard although still pretty fast pace though.

Almost totally useless, a still well good place Dodge read can get a k.o buts it's so much harder now, why risk it when axe n hammer both can do the same but also has insane DMG and can still do true combo. Eazy choice right. Go with the meta change

Two things at play here. Movement and movesets have seen a lot of changes over time which made the game look a lot faster and engaging in comparison. the map sets are much different now too. Secondly, these players have helped bring innovations that players at lower levels watch and practice inevitably improving the overall quality of the playerbase. Along with the fact people just got better over time.
