You don't compare to, you compare with. It is not different to, it is different from. I hope that my punctuation is correct. I do appreciate your lessons. I find it interesting that English grammar is mathematically based.
@SparkleEnglish Жыл бұрын
You can say "compare to" or "compare with", but they have slightly different uses.
@Nitephall Жыл бұрын
You are the first person I've come across who is also bothered by "different to." Every time I hear someone say that I mentally correct it. I think the Brits say "different to", and it has been migrating into American English.
@SparkleEnglish Жыл бұрын
@@Nitephall I hear Americans say "different than" quite often as well.

First I want to thank you for your help and sharing this with us. However, I have a problem I hope you may have time to solve: why some resources use the order: opinion, size, age, shape, color, origin, material. Whereas other sources put shape before age. Examples of the resources use the first order are American English File, Grammarly. Examples of the second order are Hogue First steps in Academic writing, and your videos... Could you please help me with this problem? Thank you

Do you get the answer I’m still confused which one is first shape and age

Been from Europe I was taught in school to never put a comma before 'and' so I'm guessing every country have their own rules.
@SparkleEnglish Жыл бұрын
Hello! The Oxford comma is optional in lists of three items or more. Example: I ordered cheese, steak, and bread. (The comma before and is optional.) However, we ALWAYS use a comma before and when connecting two independent clause.
