Watching this for the third time and I’ll likely watch it a few more lol Great job on the video man. Love the bike

Thanks a lot man! Much appreciated! Waiting for my wrist to heal so I can go ride the thing! I wrecked riding E-bike at the end of December and banged up my wrist pretty bad.

How did you get the Chalk Colored frame? thought they are only selling that color as a complete bike
@havenoutdoors58410 ай бұрын
It does look like a bit like the chalk color on video. It’s actually the clear silver color. It’s a high gloss with a bit of a champagne color to it. It’s beautiful in person! ❤️❤️

hi do you like it ? climb well ? can u give the weight please ..
@havenoutdoors58410 ай бұрын
Hey Mike. I love it! It climbs really well. I would say it climbs just as good as my Ripmo AF that I used to have. This bike feels a good bit lighter than my Ripmo AF for sure. I still need to weigh it. My guess is 33-34 lbs as it sits now? Climbing is very efficient. Seated climbing is super comfortable and out of the saddle sprints are great. I feel like most of my energy is going right into the pedals and not getting soaked up by the suspension. I think my Ripmo AF may have had a bit more traction climbing technical stuff, i.e. rocks, roots, ledges, but I did have a coil on the Ripmo which helped. I'd say when the Ripmo had an air shock it climbed up technical stuff about the same. I will be doing a review video as the trails dry up a bit or get down to southern Utah. Also, I buggered up my wrist pretty good and haven't been able to ride for about a month. Almost healed up though!

Is this the 'clear silver' frame color? Gorgeous bike. Congrats!

It is. It’s such a rad color. It kind of changes depending on the lighting from a gray to kind of a champagne tint. Thanks 🙏🏻

Was that the stock cable tube housing or did you buy it separately?
@havenoutdoors584 Жыл бұрын
If you’re asking about the internal tubing in the frame, that comes with the frame from Commencal. If you meant the cable housing for the shifter cable, I bought that separately. When you buy The GX transmission, it doesn’t come with housing.

what size frame? how u liking the 150 mm travel? is it enough?
@havenoutdoors5849 ай бұрын
I’m on the XL frame. I’m just under 6’4”. The 150mm rear travel on this bike feels deeper than my Ripmo AF which had about the same travel at 147mm. On big hits and drops my Ripmo AF felt like it would get a bit hung up and run out of travel, but on this bike it never seems to feel that way. I’m about halfway done with a review video I’ll be putting out in the next couple of weeks to get my full thoughts on it though.
@INSTASTABZ9 ай бұрын
thats nice to hear, i am also 6,35 with a canyon spectral, i recently overstroked it to 162mm rear travel and it feels great, i just wanna pull the trigger on v5 but scared 150mm might not be enough i am in greece and its got gnarly rocky trails @@havenoutdoors584

Did you order the built bike option or is fited headset standard when ordering the frame?
@havenoutdoors58411 ай бұрын
I order it as frame only and not the build option. I also put my own headset on this bike. The one Commencal sends with the frame is the internal routed headset. I honestly hate that thing. It’s on my T.E.M.P.O and it’s a pain. At least with the V5 you have the option of running cables through the ports on the side of the frame. The reason you see the headset, shock and bottom bracket on the bike when I start filming the build is I didn’t have a press, so I had a friend at my local bike shop put the headset, bottom bracket and shock on while he had it.

What's Custom about it?

Custom meaning I bought the frame and picked all the parts myself vs just buying one of the complete spec’d builds from Commencal.

Nice bike, but the tire combo definitelly decrease the ability... That Schwalbe's HD + NN are so average...
@havenoutdoors58411 ай бұрын
Ya, totally agree. This tore combo doesn’t match the bike’s ability. I’ll be swapping these out for sure when summer comes. When I built this all of the trails I usually ride were buried in snow and these tires are good for the ones that stay rideable during the winter here where I live. Also, I picked them up for super cheap. 😉
